The light on the porch was lit when Luke and I arrived on Aunt Belinda's doorstep.
My shoes were so wet from the snow. I opened the door and made sure to tap my foot on the floor before stepping in to remove the flakes of snow that covered my whole foot.
I heard laughing from inside but noticed that the living room was empty.
Luke stumbled behind me and that's when I noticed that he was carrying his bags.
"Oh, sorry. You could just place your bags there" I exclaimed pinpointing on the side of the staircase.
He nodded and left his bags.
"I do..I do remember that!" Aunt Belinda's voice was so loud and I followed it, they were all sitting on the dining table, wine glasses filled. They were eating dinner.
"Darling-" My aunt greeted me.
I smiled, nervousness was creeping in. Calum, Connor, everyone was sitting on the table.
Calum smiled but frowned right away when his eyes meet Luke's.
"Oh you have another guest" Aunt Belinda smiled.
I nodded, "It was unexpected."
"Oh don't worry its fine." She insisted, "Why don't the both of you sit and I will go get some plates." She stood up making her way to the kitchen.
I nudged Luke's shoulder gesturing him to sit down.
He obliged and I sat beside him, Calum and Connor across us.
My palms started to sweat when Uncle George cleared his throat.
"So, how's your studies, dear?" He asks and I cringe at the thought of him calling me dear. I was never really fond of him. I never liked him. He scares me enough not to be close with him.
I faked a smile, "Well, its okay. I started the home school program thing and I'm doing fine."
"Home schooling?" His brows furrowed.
"Yeah, so I could both focus on my work and my studies, its better this way." I cut my words short when Aunt Belinda came back in with plates on her hand.
She sat back on her seat.
"So, Cal, what were you just saying?" She asked,
Calum smiled, but I know that he's faking it, I can feel the tension in the room between him and Luke and Luke and I and Connor with the three of us.
I wanted to face palm myself for how bad the timing is.
Its all your fault anyway, my subconscious self mocked me. Its true though. If I haven't told Luke where I am and if I didn't bring Calum along then this wouldn't have happened. Sometimes my heart just doesn't want to listen to my mind. What the hell was I thinking?
I was so zoned out of my thoughts that I forgot what I was doing. Connor kicked me under the table making me glare at him, making him wish he wasn't born. He smiled like he did nothing and that's when I completely snapped back into reality.
Luke was placing large amount of food on my plate and Calum and my Aunt are both laughing hard while my Uncle is just staring at them, smiling here and there, throwing in some comments rude or not.
"What are you doing?" I whispered to Luke who's busy stuffing my plate with food.
"Eat all of it!" He ordered.
I shook my head, "No!"
"You lost a lot of weight and I don't like it, eat!" He insisted still whispering his words to me.
"Its not like I could eat it all, besides even if I did eat it I won't gain weight over night." I rolled my eyes.
This guy is freaking impossible.
I started munching on some broccoli and drank small amount of red wine.
The whole time I ate was composed of Luke and Calum glaring at each other like dogs and Aunt Belinda's voice.
"So Connor, Calum is staying at your place right now, am I correct?" My Aunt asked for the hundredth time.
Connor nodded. "Yeah, he's going to stay in my room while I stay in my mom's."
"Great. What about Luke?" I asked, ready to get rid of him even just for tonight since everything right now is not going according to plan.
"There's no more room in-" Before Connor could finish what he was saying Luke cut him off.
"Its okay, I'll just stay in a hotel or whatever" Luke shrugged,
"Honey? In a hotel? I'm pretty sure all of the hotels are booked since its almost Christmas, you could just stay here, we have a spare room." Aunt Belinda insisted.
I literally almost hit my head on the wall because of what she just said.
"Connor, Luke could sleep on the couch in your house right?" Calum elbowed Connor on his side making him groan.
Obviously Calum doesn't like the idea either. Connor nodded involuntarily.
"Yeah, I guess he could." Connor exclaimed,
"Oh no, its okay, Luke could stay here" Aunt Belinda's decision was final. "Who would want to spend Christmas alone in a hotel?"
I sighed, she's right.
Around past midnight, Connor and Calum left.
"Phoebe, why don't you show Luke his room?" Uncle George surprised me right after I finished doing the dishes.
Luke was sitting on the old recliner in the living room. I could hear soft snores escaping his lips.
I pinched him on his arm.
His eyes immediately shut wide open, "Oh my god! What did you do that for?" He rubbed his arms up and down.
I rolled my eyes at him just to annoy him, "Get your bags I'll show you your room."
