our hearts were ringing
in the key that our souls were singing
as we danced in the night
remember how the stars stole the night away

Flawlessly manicured fingers──that were adorned in pastel blue specifically and only for the wedding──drummed mindlessly to the opening of Under the Sea. Speeches were made, champagne was drank, and dancing was currently happening with the newly-wed couple front and center in the crowd.
Cordelia watched her brother and Bambi Gray-Evans, her new sister-in-law, move in sync while they clutched each other like a puzzle becoming complete. Chris' hands were on his waist as he tugged Bambi's body closer to his while her head laid on his shoulder and her eyes closed like she was in a blissful sleep. Cordelia had to avert her eyes from a moment that looked so tender and private.
"You know, Skeeter." Chimed the thin voice of Ruth Evans-Greenberg, the eldest of the Evans clan, "Greg knows this fantastic plastic surgeon that might help you with those. . .issues on your back."
Ah, yes, the two long laceration scars engraved on Cordelia's back which served as the reason why she seldom wore backless dresses, low cut back dresses and/or blouses, and even bikinis. The two scars ran from an inch below her shoulders to the middle of her back. You couldn't really blame Cordelia if all she wanted to wear were sweaters and plain t-shirts.
Cordelia laughed dryly and the drumming on the table ceased. "I'm not really interested, Ruthie."
"Oh, come on, Skeet!" Her other sister, Elizabeth, exclaimed.
Looking incredulously at Ruth and Elizabeth, she thought: wait, when did I become sandwiched between my two nosy sisters?
"Maybe that's the reason why you haven't had a date in years. . ." Elizabeth continued as she rocked her youngest child, Elliot, in her arms. "Scars are quite unappealing."
"Well, men would have to deal with my blemishes." Cordelia said as a matter of fact.
A hand resting on her bare shoulder made Cordelia jump in her seat. She looked up to find intense ocean eyes staring down at her and a wicked smirk on his lips.
"Hey, ladies." Sebastian Stan greeted them and met Cordelia's eyes to which she could only wrinkle her nose in response, "You wanna boogie in this boogie wonderland, Skeeter?"
Bursting out in laughter, Cordelia accepts and lets Sebastian lead her into the crowd of dancing people who bopped to Earth, Wind, & Fire's September. Cordelia felt her sandals sink into the sand and the cool wind blow at her skin. She touched the flower in her air to make sure it still stayed in place.
"Hey, thanks for saving me back there, Seb!" She yelled over the blaring music.
Twirling her around, a sympathetic look overcame Sebastian's chiseled features. "It's the least I could do."
