Layla watched Brooklyn amongst the crowd as her friend made her way through the people who gave cheers and greetings.
"Wow...she really is like the celebrity of our school." Layla said with an impressed look. Even pupils of younger years went up to greet Brooklyn. She would occasionally receive small gifts like a snack or drink, which Layla would always take the opportunity to get free food.
This time though, Brooklyn didn't have that same aura as usual. There was something hidden behind her smiling eyes. Layla knew that something was bothering her. She budged her way through the huddle of people and managed to get near the popular girl.
"Hey!!!"
Brooklyn quickly turned around and gave a look of relief.
"Layla, have you seen Athena???"
"What?"
It was quite hard to have a conversation in the midst of the busy place. Soon enough they were being pushed away from each other as more students began to move through.
"I'll talk to you later!" Layla shouted, stretching her neck to make sure her face was visible amongst the rest of the crowd. She saw Brooklyn become less visible until she had to turn around the corner.

Making her way into the science department she decided to go upstairs to the physics floor. Athena could be here. There she was, busily writing into her notebook. She kept focused on the board then spotted something at the corner of her eye. It was Layla peering through the glass frame of the door. Athena held back a smile and glanced at the clock; class was almost ending.
"Alright class, you can go now."
The class stood up in unison and pushed their chairs in. Layla sighed in relief; waiting was not something she was very keen with.
Still stashing books into her bag, Athena rushed out of the door and greeted Layla enthusiastically.
"What's going on??" She curiously asked.
"Hm. Nothing, I just decided to wait for you."
Layla wanted to tell her that Brooklyn had been looking for her yet she somehow felt cautious, she decided to just listen to Athena talk.
They continued to walk through the outdoor school area; heading their way towards the building where their form room was.
"Layla, Athena!!"
They turned around to see Ethan and Phelium jogging towards them. Layla waved back at them then turned to see Athena who had become still. Phelium was about to rest his arm on Athena's shoulder but flinched. Layla could have sworn she saw Athena punch him. She held back a laugh, she knew that the two would have started to bicker already but they remained silent instead.
I'll just leave it to them two
Layla kept watch of the two until she felt a nudge by her shoulder.
"They seem different today, don't they?" Ethan said, he gestured his chin at Phelium and Athena who kept glaring as if lasers were shooting from their eyes.
Layla nodded, so it wasn't just her that had noticed. She was surer now that something was going on. But then again... knowing them it was probably something not that serious.
She looked at them nudging each other with their elbows and made an expression of being at a loss to their immatureness.
"I'm so done." Layla wryly sighed.
Ethan scoffed beside her.
_
"Hurry up!!! Hurry up!!!" Layla impatiently repeated as she waved her hand at Athena by their lockers.
