Few days later
It had been a few days and Moonari hadn't come out of the Medical bay because she didn't want to leave Scarlett. Even if she did feel a little crowded in the room. She forced herself to not think about it though. "Hey Scar, do you think we're safer here than anywhere else?" she asked.
Scarlett was laying down in the bed, her stomach was nowhere being healed and movement only made it worse. She had finally accepted pain killers after a while but they only helped to an extent. Glancing up to Moonari she tilts her mouth a little. "Out of all honesty Moonie, this place has been nothing but kind and generous to us. They saved us, I believe we are safe." She gives her honest opinion to her sister.
"I still don't feel comfortable here though. It still feels like we're trapped and I sense this bad air. Like... like we still have bad fortune hanging over our heads. I don't understand how you don't feel it." Moonari turned her head to the side and rubbed her arm. She lifted her good wing and looked at her clipped feathers. "I doubt I'll ever fly the same again after so many clipped feathers and now a broken wing. You at least have speed healing" she said with sadness.
Megan walked in after a little while carrying a couple bowls containing breakfast in her hands for the two girls. "You doing okay? I brought you guys some oatmeal" she said gently and set them down on the bench beside them both.
Scarlett looks to the bowls of oatmeal, her stomach gurgles in response. "Thank you Megan." She speaks up as she pushes herself into a seating position ready to eat for she was very hungry. Her mind does wonder to the thought Moonari put in her mind through. She had felt that internal looming doom but chose to ignore it as it frightened her; she wanted to finally feel safe. She also felt a little hurt, that she could heal and her sister truly couldn't and was slightly putting it against her.
Moonari looked over at her. "Thanks" she said softly and picked up the bowl as well before setting it on her lap. She just looked down at the bowl as she feels the loss of flight for she had lost her wings completely due to being clipped so often. She takes a couple of mouthfuls but it was tasteless and bland to her. She didn't care as long as she had something in her stomach through so gladly kept eating the oatmeal.
Megan could sense that they were upset about something. "You know, you can talk to us. Any of us, and we'll listen. We've all had...something in our lives that was taken" she suggests gently to the two of them.
Scarlett groans while reaching over to grab her own bowl. It stretches her wound and slightly hurts her, but she manages to ignore it long enough to grab her meal. She gently takes a mouthful and eats it gladly. She likes the taste of the oatmeal, it has a slight honey flavor which satisfies her. She does take a deep breath in through as Megan makes that comment and looks to Moonari to see how she is feeling.
The comment hits home on Moonari but she refuses to show it. She lost everything the night she was brought into the labs. All her memories were gone and all that she had known was the labs, tests, men, and....pain. Although not as much as Scarlett had of course. "I don't think so" she whispered almost too quietly to hear.
Scarlett sighs as she hears Moonari before she speaks up finally for herself. "The labs is all we have ever known. Our loss is never having a life of our own... freedom of our own." She simply sums it up for both of them.
"Oh, I had no idea. I'm so sorry." Megan gasped softly and offered her hand to Scarlett in a friendly gesture of trust with a kind smile. "But now you do. Both of you" she looked between the two of them.
Scarlett gently nods with a faint smile. "That is what we are hoping for." She accepts Megan's hand and looks to Moonari. "It's been tough on us both, but we survived. Together." She explains a little more before going back to eat more oatmeal.
