It wasn't long until Daryl was thrown into the back of the truck with Lily. His arm was coated in blood, his face was pale and he looked as if he would pass out any minute from the blood loss. A blanket was draped over his shoulders and his hair stuck to his forehead. "Daryl lay down please, you look like you're going to pass out." Lily whispered softly, reaching out for Daryl's hand.

The man looked up to her, his georgian blue eyes that would have made her heart skip a beat if it was just a few months prior. "Come." she told him, stretching her legs out in front of her signaling to the man that he had no choice but to comply. He sighed and slowly laid down, grunting in pain as he did so. Slowly, he rested his head onto Lily's thigh letting her brush his hair off of his forehead. "Close your eyes." she hummed looking down to the man who was around seven years older than her. Slowly, Daryl closed his eyes and let Lily run her fingers through his long hair.

"You ever think things would be different?" Daryl asked, suddenly making Lily look back down to him, seeing his eyes now open. Daryl was looking back into her hazel eyes, searching for any source of an answer. "What do you mean Dixon?" she asked. Lily wasn't dumb, she knew exactly what the man was talking about, she just didn't want to admit it herself. "The baby. If we didn't lose the baby would we be different?" he asked, his fingers softly dragging across the fabric covering her stomach.

Lily sighed and rested her head against the cold metal wall of the truck. "I try not to think about it." she finally admitted, bringing her bottom lip between her teeth.

Lily remembered when Daryl was her boyfriend. Well, they never made it official with titles. But their one night stand started at the farm, and then moved onto being more than that. Then by the time they reached the prison, late at night Daryl would sneak into her cell so he could wrap her up in his arms. The day before the Governor took over the prison Lily told Daryl and his sister Dory that she was pregnant. To her surprise, the Dixon siblings we're both ecstatic about the news. When the prison fell, Daryl got split up from his sister and Lily. While Lily found Rick, Carl and Michonne, they hadn't seen Dory until two weeks ago. It was a day before Aaron came and found the group did Lily lose her baby.

Daryl and Lily broke whatever it was that they had, off. Coming to terms that they were a good team, but they were better as friends. Neither of them ever wanted to risk the feeling of losing another child, or even one another. They had talked to Deanna not long after being in Alexandria to ask if there was anywhere they could live together. No matter what, at the end of the day Lily and Daryl were best friends, and out of everyone in the group they trusted each other the most. So, after work everyday they would come home to each other. Lily would cook them dinner and they would sit in the living room watching a movie or old tv show.

Daryl would always bring Lily things back from his runs. Movies, shows, books. Whatever he saw that day he would bring home to his best friend. Most nights they didn't even say much to each other. They didn't have too. "Always thought we would have had a girl." Daryl finally said, after a long pause. Lily felt tears well up in her eyes, everyone always said it was mother's intuition when it came to knowing what the gender of their unborn child was. Although Lily knew it wasn't something to determine her baby, she was always craving something sweet when she was pregnant. Which was something she remembered her aunt telling her could sometimes mean you were having a girl. "Me too." Lily whispered, her voice cracking slightly.

"What would you have wanted to name her?" Daryl asked quietly. He often spent nights laying awake wondering what his little girl would look like, if she would have his eyes or Lilys. Always praying to god she'd have Lily's nose and smile, but would take after him with hunting and tracking. Lily sighed as a tear slipped past her eyes and down her cheek, Daryl's fingers still softly brushing along her stomach where his child once was. "Harper," Lily finally said, wiping at her eyes. "After your mom." she added in making Daryl look up to her, his fingers halting in their movement.

"Haven't heard that name in a long time." Daryl muttered before the two fell quiet thinking about what could have been if they had found Alexandria just a day sooner.

It was almost an hour until they arrived at the Sanctuary. Lily had fallen asleep propped up against the wall, while Daryl laid awake on with his head resting on her lap. Lily's hand was gripping Daryl's as she slept making him sub his thumb along her knuckles slowly as he stared up at the ceiling of the truck - grieving. When the truck came to a sudden stop Lily jumped awake and Daryl sat up now alert. After a few seconds the door was swung open and four men grabbed the two, a bag was thrown over Lily's head making her fight even harder against the hands that held onto her.

"You two better stop, or Doctor Carson won't be fixing up the redneck for you." one of the men holding Lily growled making Lily stop fighting against the men. She wanted to insure Daryl would get his arm cared for, even if it meant obeying the men around her. "That's more like it." a different man said. The sound of approaching feet against concrete could be heard making a slight panic rise in Lily, dreading what was to come.

"Take the redneck to Doctor Carson, I want to see the girl in my office." the familiar voice of Negan said, making Lily's heart drop at the command.
