There I was. Sitting on one of the recovery beds, kicking my feet like a child while I patiently waited for Kadzuki. We were being sent off on a solo mission together. This was the first time since I've joined the demon slayer corps that I won't be on a mission with the boys...

To be honest... I'm kind of nervous. Kadzuki said there was nothing to worry about and that there will be some other slayers there. But it just feels like a solo mission without the boys.

The mission was at an old abanded court Palace. Basically a palace where past Emporers let their concubines stay at. There were some small village houses in the woods surrounding the base of the palace. Some villagers reported hearing noises from the palace. They didn't specify the noises though, which is... unsettling.

I sighed and flopped down on to my back. Laying across the bed still kicking my legs.

"Oh, quit being dramatic." I heard a familiar laugh. "It's not going to be bad!" I lifted my head up to see the infamous sibling pair walking in. Kadzuki rolling her eyes at me, Kyojuro right beside her.

"Kyojuro? Aren't you supposed to be resting? What are you doing here?" I sat up looking at the pair.

"Are you going to say that to me every time we meet?" His smile never left his face while he laughed. "I'm leaving in a day or two, so I just wanted to say bye." He smiled.

I know what he meant, he was just saying bye till next time we see each other. Which wouldn't be far because... you know... can't fight anymore... But hearing him say bye just slapped me in the face. Remembering his almost last moments at the train mission.

"O-oh!... that's good news! So I'm guessing your injuries have healed nicely!" I tried to hide the bad memories wanting to display on my face. A smile on my face. Still happy to see him improving from that first night he woke up...

I cringed at the hard memory.

"Well, anyway, we'll probably stop by the estate so Father and Senjuro know you're coming. I think Senjuro would be happy to see you after so long." Kadzuki patted his shoulder. "You were always his favorite anyway."

"And you..." She looked over at me. Closing one of her eyes as she pointed at me. "Stop worrying over this mission! Giyuu was assigned this mission too! And I heard you talking to him the other day outside my door. Clear as day."

Kyojuro's face didn't change much. But his eyes widen as he looked at Kadzuki then back at me. He was thinking something but wasn't going to say it. "Don't make it sound scandalous!" I huffed. Standing up off the bed. "We were just getting acquainted! I did most of the talking anyway..."

"That sounds right." Kyojuro chipped in.

"Yeah, to no surprise." As did Kadzuki.

"He's an excellent pillar! So there is nothing for you to fear, y/n!" Kyojuro said. Always having to put his opinion about someone's power. Complementing opinion. I've never seen him insult someone's strength now that I think about it...

We sat there in silence for a while. They were just looking at each other. Both had identical smiles while looking at each other. "Aren't you supposed to be resting?" Kadzuki suddenly spoke up.

"Are you not supposed to be leaving?" Kyojuro shot back.

"I want to have a private conversation with Y/n" I could see a vein pop out of Kadzuki's cheek as she said that.

"Oh, me too!" A vein popped out of Kyojuro's forehead.

They stood still for a moment. Same pose, same smile, same intense stare. Finally, Kadzuki uncrossed her arms and huffed. "All you two ever have are private conversations! But okay! Alright! Fine, I'm going..." She turned on her heel and waltzed out. Waving at the booth of us playfully.
