⑄Lantern Nights⑄

Ahhh I remember when I used to do crack header pictures.... uwu Ima bring them back.

I stood patiently outside of one of the townhouses while staring up at the large palace overshadowing the whole town. 

The few little village houses we were told about ended being a whole bustling town... so... just thought you'd like to know that. 

Kadzuki was trying to get a room for tonight because she said she was too tired to do any fighting tonight, that we will leave in the early morning when it's dark so I won't have to get in my basket. And besides, most of the fight will probably be inside the place so I won't have to worry about sunlight or anything like that. 

The town was engulfed with people shuffling by, almost like a city, except this was too small to be a city. 

These beautiful red lanterns were decorating the small town. Giving the town and it's people a warm glow. 

To avoid panic from my demon features, Kadzuki bought me a cheap head wrap from one of the nearby vendors. I wrapped the cloth over my head and let it dangle loosely over my blacked-out eyes. Hiding my e/c irises while I was at.  I pierced my horn through the top of the wrap so It wouldn't cause discomfort or look abnormal without the cloth suffocating it. 

If anyone asks about I'll just say it's a hat I have to wear for my religion. 

I stood there leaning against the wall of the building, waiting for Kadzuki to come out and while I did so, I realized how I could wander at night if I wanted to. I couldn't wander during the day so I rarely get to. My brain just assumed I couldn't at night as well.

I sighed as a cool night air blew past me, shifting through my hair in the process.

"Hey, they said we could sleep in their separate building outback." Kadzuki cut off my train of thought as she appeared from inside the building with the wisteria crest.

I looked at her golden eyes, then back towards the crowded streets that were starting to dissipate as people went home for the night. I could hear the lanterns be moved around by the wind and some bells jingling in sync with them. 

"I uh..." I said still staring off down the street, watching the vendors doing business with their clients and food vendors cook up delicious smelling food. "Can I roam around for a little bit? Just to take a look around..." 

I looked back at her, my eyes big and round like a child asking for a cookie. Pleading for an answer.

She looked down at me then back behind me towards the street. She blinked and rubbed the back of her neck. Sighing in the process. "Yeah... sure...- Oh! But here!" She pushed back her haori to reach for this small pouch tied to her belt. 

She loosened it and held it in her hand, opening it to pull out a few golden mon coins and holding them out for me to take. "You might find something you like so here."

I held my hands out and let them fall in my hands, watching them clink and clank together. "That should at least buy you an oyakodon or a nice hairpin." She smiled at me before ruffling my hair and walked to the back of the house to sleep.

I felt myself grow giddy on the inside, a euphoric sense of a child floating to me as I thought of all the things I could buy with this. If I used this carefully I could get a bowl and a hairpin... 

Oh! I could get Kadzuki a hairpin! Maybe that would make her feel better from earlier! 

I gushed happily at the thought of her face lighting up at whatever beautiful hairpiece I could find!
