Chapter 21: Kidnapped!

Emily's kidnappers set her down gentlly on what feels like a folding chair to her. Once they let go, she is in so much panic that she really can't even move. After a few minutes, she bravely pulls the pillow case over her head and finds herself sitting in front of a small round table with flowers in a vase and two candles flickering in the night. A violinist comes out of the dark and begins to play. Emily is in shock and also still shaken up, until she sees Norman come out of the dark with a bottle of wine and two champagne glasses. Coming from behind her, Steven and Andy put two plates of spaghetti on her and Norman's side of the table. Norman sets the glasses down, fills them, then dismisses the guys, before coming over to her and kiss her. Sitting down across from her, he smiles widely and waits for her to finally take a breath.

"What the fuck Norman!" She laughs slightly, but is still shaken up.

"I'm sorry I scared you, but I wanted it to be a surprise."

"Couldn't you have just called me and told me to meet you somewhere? Did you really have to give me a heart attack?" Reaching forward he gently grabs her hand and then brings it to his lips.

"I know... but I thought this would be... okay you're right that was pretty mean."

"Haha it's okay. Just... make it less frightenting next time."

"Will do. Other than needing a change of pants, do you need anything?"

"No. How was yer guy day?" They both begin to eat as they converse.

"Great. Watched the Laker game. Did some golfing, poker, hung out. Came up with this plan after you called. It was pretty fun and productive. Did your search go any better?"

"Actually, it did. I found it. The perfect dress for me." His eyes sparkle in the candle's glow.

"I'm so happy. I can't wait till I can see it." His voice purrs with anticipation. "In a week."

"I know...you invited Andy, Steven, Chad, and Cudlitz, right?"

"Wait what?" He stops eating and looks scared.

"Norman!"

"I'm kidding. Of course I did. Did you get the girls?"

"Yes. Lauren, Melissa, Danai, Sonequa, and Christian."

"I think we're set...all except the honeymoon. Where do you wanna go?" He takes a bite of his roll and looks at Emily with want.

"I don't know. Where do you think?"

"We could be cliche and go to Paris...or Rome."

"What about Ireland and we can hit Scotland also."

"Sounds perfect. As long as I'm with you, I don't care where we go." Coming over he kisses her lips and pulls her to dance to the violin. She lays her head on his shoulder and has one hand in his and the other on his upper back, while his is on the small of hers. "I love you."

"Norman... would you ever change me?" He looks down into her blue eyes that catch the moon. His face seems to be playing with the question in his mind.

"No. I love you the way you are. Everything about you I love. Why?"

"I was just wondering. I wouldn't change you either."

"Not even my age?" He sounds saddened by the thought and Emily stops dancing and pulls his face to look down at her.

"I love that you have wisdom I do not. I love the man you are, no matter what age or anything else." Kissing him brings them both to reality. After cleaning up, Norman pays the violinist and head home.

Looking out the widow at the moon, Emily feels everything coming to a perfect end. She isn't scared about next week or even the future for that matter. As long as she has Norman, she doesn't have to worry about anything but him and their family.
