With the dawn of a new day, Sauske has expanded his skills with writing, to even perfectly reading his favourite book out loud.
This has brung his mother much joy, even Itachi loves to hear him babble about his short stories.
Yet the older Itachi has gotten, the more detached has become. He no longer smiles nearly as much as he would. This worries me.
However, as we aged Guy and I graduated with our other peers. All rejoiced as we were assigned to a shinobi to train us.
On the other hand, I dismissed myself from the academy to remain home with the young Uchihas, and an occasional child from the Leaf Village.
With my decision, the backlash was immense, Kakashi shouted with hatred, calling me a coward. While others watched, but Kurenai stepped in and questioned him, then I.
I replied with, "I wish to take care of the young," At this point, I had no idea of what I wanted from life. We were only kids, right?
This left me in a state of constant isolation. I only spoke with close family and the kids, and I was now a disgrace to the Uchiha name.
I no longer was welcomed with smiles and warm hugs, now I only receive glowers and short worded demands.
But I was happy, I found solace in watching infants of the village, and of my family. And when I came of age with a formal education, working families would flock to my small business, and allowed me to watch and care for their offspring.
Each day bared a new challenge, in the beginning, I scarped by to even keep the nursery open.
Toys and high chairs would break, while the 'nap room' had a constant draft, but at some point I was graciously given an anonymous donation. I never learned from who, but I am beyond grateful.
Hence small repairs were made, and two more cribs were added, and I hired Banzon.
He is a vibrant man, who needed quick money, but shortly he fell in love with the job. He has mentioned in passing that he loves to see the kids smile and how they would ask for hugs.
Later when I last saw Itachi, he was nearly double my height. Instead of his bright eyes, a somber expression filled his features.
That night I slink to my room, all of my senses dulled by liquor.
When the moon was high about, the shattering of glass catches me attention, I hold the blanket tight in my hands.
"Who's there?" I demand with a groggy tone.
A white mask with a simple animal design comes into view. I've seen these masks before, the ANBU.
My heart sinks at the sight of the intruder, "Go away..." I barely murmur as the figure reaches out.
In an instant I can feel their hand reach through my chest cavity, piercing a vital organ.
"Itachi...?"
