"You're such a dingus, y/n," Robin's sweet tone tells me.

"I'm your dingus," I say smugly, wrapping her in my arms.

"You're my dingus," she repeats, a smile on her lips. I gently remove the smile with a light peck on her lips. At times like this, I wish that my breaks never end. We now both work at Family Video, both taking our five-minute break. Steve is covering for us out the front. He's the only one we've told about our relationship so far. He was in shock at first, understandable as there aren't any same-sex couples in Hawkins.

I check my watch, sighing as I do. "We better get back to work," I say, making my lips into a pout.

"In a minute. I have something I need to do first," she cheekily says.

"Oh?" I question, confused. I don't get a verbal response, instead a physical one of her lips smashing onto mine. I smile beneath the kiss which lengthens and I know that if I don't stop it, we'd be in this room for the rest of the day and get fired. So, I pull away and tell her once more that we need to get back to work.

"Did you not like it?" she asks, worried. "Please tell me if you don't, I don't want to upset you."

I laugh at the girl's unnecessary worry. It's so cute that she's concerned about me. "Come on," I chuckle, grabbing Robin's hand but letting it go when I open the door. Hawkins is extremely homophobic and I'm scared my parents will kick me out if they know.

"Oh, nice of you to join me," Steve drones on. As he is both our best friend, that means he just has to tease us when possible. Not in public, though. We'd kill him. "Well?" He asks, raising one eyebrow.

"Shut up, dingus," Robin says, walking over to the counter to sort out a broken VHS player.

"Oo, sensitive," he says to Robin. He then turns to me and says in a lower volume, "Make out session?"

I usually tend to be conservative about such things but I'm mystified on how he can know something like that. It wasn't as if we were shouting it from the rooftops. "How did you know?"

"She's always crabby when you guys have to get interrupted with the short break. Darned Keith," he deduces.

I laugh. Robin's right, he is such a dingus. "Anyway," I change the subject, "I better go stock the shelves." No protest comes so I go to the backroom and grab a box full of videotapes. I start to walk out when I hear a voice behind me. Keith. I turn around to face him.

"So, are you free tonight?" he asks somewhat shyly. For once, he isn't eating Cheetos or whatever. And is that cologne and deodorant I can smell?

"Actually, Robin's coming round to my place. Chatting about, you know, boys," I lie. Robin's coming to my place to watch a movie and cuddle and definitely not to talk about boys.

"Oh, I have a spare ticket to the movies and I was wondering if, maybe, you want to come with me? But I guess not." He blurts out.

"Are you asking me on a date?" I ask, confused. That seems to be my default setting these days.

"Yeah," he responds, barely above a whisper.

"Sorry, Keith, but I'm busy. And you're my manager so it might seem a bit... unprofessional?" I try to reason.

"Yeah, of course. Forget I ever asked," he says, a sad tone in his voice.

"See you later, Keith," I say and walk out the room.

I walk up to the counter, where my girlfriend is holding a screwdriver, pointing it menacingly at Steve who is on the other side.

"You okay? You look a bit confused," Steve asks when he sees me.

"Guys, Keith just asked me on a date," I inform them. They both stand there silent, processing my last statement. "Well?" I ask after a couple of seconds.

"What- what'd you say?" Robin asks anxiously.

"Aw, are you jealous?" I ask her, poking her arm softly.

"Y/n, please just tell me what you said," she says, sounding hurt.

"I told him the truth, that you were coming over tonight so I couldn't," I say, almost apologetically. "Rob, don't worry. He's not gonna steal me away from you."

Robin clenches her fists and moves nervously back and forth with her body.

"Robin?" Steve calls. Robin looks at him. "Are you okay?" he asks.

Robin doesn't answer him, instead looking away and putting her head between her arms which are rested on the counter. I look at Steve, scared. He looks at me with the same expression on his face. I circle around Robin, coming to a stop on her right.

"Robin, nothing's going to happen between the two of us," I tell her softly. I get no answer. "Robin, look at me," I say, upset. I still get no response.

I grab my bag from under the counter and turn to Steve to say, "Tell Keith I'm sick. I'm going home." I start to walk out of Family Video but get stopped by Steve.

"Why are you going?" he asks.

"I can't see her like this," I say, my voice breaking. "It breaks my heart to see her so upset and she's not even answering me. There's no point me even being here."

"Drive safely," he tells me, stumped of what to say.

I say nothing, instead walking out into the car park to my car. I search for my keys in my bag, eventually finding them. I unlock my car and climb into the driver's seat, shutting the door beside me. Unsure of what to do concerning Robin, I put my head on the steering wheel and start to cry. My girlfriend who I love more than anything in the world wasn't talking to me because of stupid Keith asking me on a stupid date. She's being so childish about the whole thing, it's not as if I was going to cheat on her with him. I mean, Keith, of all people.

The passenger side door opens. I know that someone has entered my car but I don't really care. I don't want anyone to see me in the state I'm in. It's embarrassing.

"I'm sorry," says the familiar voice beside me. Robin. "I'm new to this whole relationship stuff and I got jealous. And scared. Scared that you'd be taken away from me. I can't allow that to happen," she says, pouring her heart and soul out to me.

I lift my head off of the steering wheel and turn it to face her. "I'm never going away from you," I assure her.

"I know," she looks down, her voice small. She looks back at me, "You look like shit," she laughs.

"So do you," I chuckle.

"God, you're such a dingus."

"You are too!" I exclaim.

"No I am not," she defends.

"Oh, my god. You're like, the biggest dingus ever. If you think I'm going to leave you, a beautiful goddess, for Keith, who I'm pretty sure doesn't brush his teeth, then you are the biggest dingus on Earth."

"I guess we're a pair of dinguses then," she laughs.

"We'll be dinguses together," I say and Robin leans in. I inhale sharply, it's a public space and anyone could see us. But, relieving my fears, she just wipes my tears.

"Better?" she asks.

"Better," I repeat.

"Let's go back to work, dingus," she says and climbs out of my car.

I sit in the car for a couple of seconds, thinking about how I must be the luckiest woman on Earth.
