Tetsurou's POV:
I pinched the bridge of my nose, staring down at the stack of paperwork on my desk – I really should've guessed that I'd be coming back to this. It had already been a week since the triplets had been left on my doorstep – that week felt like it had lasted an eternity, and I was no closer to knowing a single damn thing about babies. How did Kenma do it? He was like a baby-whisperer – I swear on my life.
I closed my eyes and leaned my forehead against my desk. I'd given him my work number and my cell number in case of an emergency, but my eyes kept gravitating towards the phone. I exhaled through my nose and lightly banged my head against the desk.
I was not ready to be a father. Was the rest of my life going to be like this? Staring at the phone, chewing on my nails, waiting for someone to call and tell me something happened? I groaned, shaking my head. Would I ever be able to sleep peacefully again? I didn't know if I could handle this.
"Sir?" I lifted my head as my assistant knocked, popping her head into my office. Here we go again.
"Yes?" I sighed, staring down at the stacks of paper; I'd probably have to bring some home. The sooner I finished this, the better.
"I've updated your schedule with the meetings you missed last week." She walked further into the office, and I nodded, opening a new tab on my computer, opening my calendar; I winced. That was two meetings a day for the next two weeks; who knew that missing a week of work would result with this? "And I just wanted to tell you that whatever you're going through, if ever you need someone to talk to, I'm here."
Her cheeks flushed and she smiled nervously. I smiled tensely. "Thanks, I'll keep that in mind." I waited until she walked back into her small adjoined office before I let my smile slip from my lips. If she really knew what was going on, I wondered if she'd react the same way. I shook my head and chuckled; I doubted it. Nobody could find out – not yet.
My children would not become a feast for the press.
I wanted to keep them as far away from that life as possible. I'd watched too many movies to think that it didn't matter if I was their father; it would impact them for the rest of their lives. I wasn't stupid enough to hope that they wouldn't grow up under a glaring spotlight.
Of course, I knew I wouldn't be able to protect them from it forever, but the longer the press knew nothing about them, the better; it would come out as a scandal regardless, and I needed to think of a strategy to deal with it when that time came. I'd have to make an appointment with my PR manager – after the huge list staring up at me from my computer screen was done with, that is.
My first meeting of the day was in an hour; I had time to do a little bit of this paperwork before then. I sighed; this was going to be a long two weeks.

It was nearly dark by the time I left the company building. It was practically deserted, only the night staff and the security guards that patrolled the building after-hours. I looked down at my watch as I walked out the glass doors, towards the car parked in the front; it was already six O'clock. I'd completely lost track of time.
Suddenly, I had the very unsettling feeling of being watched. I stopped, peering around, eyes flickering over the empty grounds, but I didn't spot anybody. It must have been my imagination; although the feeling persisted, I shrugged it off, and approached my car.
The chauffeur had already started the engine, and I reached for the door handle. "Sir?" My eyebrows furrowed as I straightened, my eyes landing on another car that had just pulled up behind me, my chauffeur leaning out of the window. "I'm sorry I'm late, sir, I ran into unexpected traffic."
I immediately dropped the handle, peering into the window. "Sorry about that!" I called, before hurrying over to my car. As I slid into my seat, I couldn't help but look at the other car as we pulled out of the lot. The driver wore a black baseball cap, his face mostly shielded from view.
Unexplainable dread settled in my gut; he hadn't tried to stop me from getting in the car, now that I thought about it. My eyebrows furrowed, why? I turned in my seat to peer at it one last time before it disappeared from view.
I'd have to get my security team to look into it; when weird things happened to people like me, there was usually a reason. I leaned back in my seat and closed my eyes, exhaling heavily. I ran a hand down my face; it was probably nothing, but just in case...
I pulled my phone out. "Yeah, it's me. I was wondering if you could look into something for me."
