"We'll visit him time to time, ah. Hanggang sa gumaling siya, we'll be together..."

Elisse wiped her tears before she smiled. She's trying so hard to suppressed herself from crying kanina pag-alis namin sa ospital. Unfortunately, she still ends up to shed tears. 

"O-oo naman. Hanggang sa gumaling siya..." Third trailed off as he looked down. He slid his hands in his pocket.

I gulped, trying to look straight on the road. "Prayers. That's what we need now,"

They both nodded on my peripheral. I could see my brother's stare too.

When we got home, I immediately went straight to the kitchen. My brother stayed quiet behind me. My lips slightly parted when we saw our parents busy counting their money on the table. 

Bumaba ang tingin ko sa mga papel na nakakalat sa mesa. Para saan ang mga 'yun?

They looked at us when they felt our presence and formed a smile.

"Your exam's done? Did you both had a fun?" Daddy asked.

I walked towards the fridge to drink water. 

Fun? Did we had a fun? 

Mom stood up. "Where have you been?" She was about to walk towards me when her lips parted a bit upon seeing our faces, being gloomy. "Did something happ—"

Bago pa siya magtanong ay agad kong iniba ang usapan. "Naghihirap na po ba tayo?" After I drunk, I faced them. Pabalik balik ang tingin ko sa pera at sa kanila. 

They glanced at each other. 

"No," Mom shook his head while smiling. "Hmm, we're doing canvas for your debut." 

Debut? My brows furrowed a little. I glanced at my brother. He's looking straight to my parents, solemnly. What's he thinking?

"Your birthday is coming, honey. Hindi ka ba excited?" Dad leaned on his chair.

I gasped and fake a smile. My eyes glistened with fake expression. I shook my head. "No! Of course, I'm excited!" I widened my smile as I clasped my hand. 

December pa 'yun. Malayo pa. They don't need anything grande for it. Besides, I don't deserve to have fun. 

Muli silang nagkatinginan habang nakangiti.
