Her heels clicked against the stone as the High Priestess took her time approaching the fight. The chaos taking place within the gates pleased her. All of her pieces were falling into place. If everyone was going to turn their back on her, she was going to burn the whole system down. Even though no one wanted to be on her team, they all played by her rules so well. There was only one person she wanted by her side, and as if on cue, when she was thinking about him, he appeared.
Exiting the spirit realm, Pilo began walking alongside the High Priestess. "You're playing a foul game, and I can't help to think I'm being used," said Pilo.
"Is that so," she replied.
"You did something to me in your study. I'm not sure what, but you froze me; made me lose track of time. You did so to give Demini a chance to move before I could show up."
"I did no such thing, but if you want to reunite with her, I can guide you."
"I have a hard time trusting you."
"Do you want to keep her safe?"
"Of course."
"Then," she stops walking and turns toward PIlo, "you have to eliminate the threats." She extends out her arm and points toward the battle up ahead. Pilo turns to focus on her direction and witnesses the two large wolves tearing through their victims. "You see how hungry they are for your kind. Those two are more of a threat than you know. They met up with her, on her way here, they know where she is...They have her...I'm on my way to have a talk with my sister in power, but I suggest you begin with Therion." The High Priestess proceeds to continue her walk to her destination.
Pilo, not knowing what to do, watches the High Priestess walk away from him, while thinking of what to do next. Up ahead, all joined together were all of the threats he wanted to eliminate. With quick thinking, he could eliminate everything keeping him tied to this city. He had waited for this moment for a long time. The fighting was a beacon. If Demini was free, she would for sure be drawn to the fighting. While waiting to locate his deathmate, he could clean up the streets. Ghost walking allowed him to exit among the fallen soldiers. Reaching down among their bodies, he pulled out a stake, and made sure it had a sharp point. While the werewolves tore through the crowd, Pilo began focusing on the vampires running away. Using his bat to carry him through realms, Pilo would exit out in front of his victims, and quickly turn them to dust. He was able to take out several before the vampires on the outside of the gate had all disappeared from the area. Standing at the gate, Pilo watched the vampires attacking the soldiers on the inside. Cheering from the outside soldiers caught his attention. He watched as Therion turned his attack on them, and all of the men begin to scatter. Therion was littering the streets with blood when Pilo caught his attention.
The Light Witch stood outside her front doors, at the top of the steps, and raised her staff. Preparing an attack for the betraying vampires, she began drawing in her power. Before she could complete any actions, the High Priestess exited the spirit realm and became a distraction. Placing one foot on the bottom stair, the Priestess looked out over the fighting and then back at the Light Witch. "Well, this certainly isn't how you pictured things turning out."
"Chloria, thanks for saving me the trouble."
"Using my name, how informal. And here I thought I demanded some sort of respect. I mean look at what happens when you try messing with me."
"You have no idea what you've done. The risk you have taken in breaking the balance. If we don't get a handle on this, all could be lost. Do you even understand what that means?"
