Evelyn QuinnFox

I flew higher. The things were blurry. There was water, fire, air, and the blue light furiously encircling in rings around me as I held a metal rod in front of me with both my hands. It's groves illuminated by gold, blue, silver, and green lights in different parts. It had sharp six grooved crystal arrowheads in both the ends.

Then it split into two and looked more like whips as I held it. Electricity sparked. I didn't notice that my eyes and hands were glowing till then. This time I was comfortable. I didn't force it to go away or try to stop it. It felt so natural and at home and I liked it. I liked flying.

The whips soon turned into fan-like blades. And then to sharp dangerously beautiful swords before forming double-headed arrow blades. I felt the metal in every fiber of my body. This is what it felt bonding.  I could feel the light flowing from my body to the metal and back to my body.

It was the feeling of belonging. It felt like the metal was a part of my body. I held the two beautifully sculpted rods in my hands. They fused and moved to form a bracelet in my right hand. The most beautiful design I've ever seen. It covered my wrists to the elbow. I almost got lost as I stared at it.

And slowly I started landing. And my eyes turned normal while so did my hands.

"Congratulations on becoming a chosen Evelyn Zaira QuinnFox" Livia's voice echoed through the waters. My hand automatically reached my neck and to my surprise, my mom's pendant was on my neck. And I was broken from my state of peace as I started remembering everything.

"That girl..."

"She's Safe. Standing in front of you"

"It was you?"

"Yes," She gave an assuring smile.

"That wolf... That wasn't you was it?" I asked out of blue. Her playful demeanor changed to completely serious before she smiled genuinely before nodding.

"Yes. It was A-- I mean it was not me." She nodded again.

"It was that guy, Isn't it?" I don't even understand why I am asking when I knew the answer. I needed confirmation I guess. I also have a feeling that I am not going to see him soon. Probably I'll never see him again. Lucky for him cause he will be dead meat when I see him again.

She didn't respond. Instead, she walked over to me and stared into my eyes before saying " We have a lot to talk about"

"You know?  It feels just like yesterday when your mom was here to get her Spex." She smiled at her memories. I couldn't help but smile at her as I sat beside her on a rock near the waters. I looked around at the surrounding. Blue butterflies, Pinkish purple sky, tall trees at a distance, and It looked amazing and beautiful. I loved it here.

"You know my mother?" I already knew she was an amazing woman. But I wanted to know more. What she was like? Her past, My dad, I had a lot to learn about her. A lot to learn about us.

I remember asking Izzy about my dad. My mom didn't give her a single detail. She made Izzy promise that she wouldn't ask about my dad. She'd said that it is better to be kept from everyone, especially me. That was a bit...No, I was disappointed.

Izzy told me she was awoken only a week before the huge war broke out. And since then she has been tagging along with my mom as my protection.

"Of course, Everyone knew about her. She was a very strong and brave woman. She was the last descendant of pureblood who survived. "  She said. I looked at her. I think I know her but I don't know.....

"Vitara is your mom's birthplace. Her home and it was her duty to protect the Elrocks. From the day she turned eighteen, she had been living for her people. She was the first to ascend the throne of Vitalis. She fulfilled her duties and Vitara was honestly blessed to have your mom to protect them. But seventeen years ago," She blew air from her mouth. If they felt so then the elrocks wouldn't have tried to extract her energy or even try to hurt her. Izzy already mentioned that my mom was the Rhea of Elrock...which was their protector, I think. I asked her if I was like their princess or something, She said 'something' and we postponed the topic as I was already having too much on my plate.

"The memory still stays fresh in my mind." She continued. A painful emotion consuming her.

"The Ramoxz wanted to kill her. Their need for power grew so much that it blinded them. There was only one way to break the barrier. It was by making a pureblood or a demon blood to cross it." She said. Did they make my mom cross it? But she wouldn't. For the sake of three worlds! She wouldn't. No, she didn't. She never would.

" There was a day every year, when the Rheyr, the purebloods go to the border to strengthen the barrier. That's when Zita, your aunt, your mom's sister first met Arzeus, The Alphine Rhea of The Ramoxz." I still was confused about the dark and light thing. I still couldn't understand how it was, let alone the terms she's using.

"He pretended to fall in love with her. She was so strong that she wouldn't trust him. She was your mom's sister after all." She gave me a small smile. I wanted to smile but I was too anxious to do so.

"He tried so hard. He went through everything to convince her. She was headstrong on denying though she started liking him. When he had more than enough confidence that she likes him. He did that one thing that would make her trust him completely. He tried to cross the barrier to talk to her while she was on this side. He risked his life for power, That's how much of a megalomaniac he is. Any Elrock or Ramozx who tried to cross the barrier would die. Except for demon bloods and purebloods. She had to cross the barrier to save him."

My eyes were solely fixed on the water. How much would it have hurt to be betrayed after all this to trust him? How much would it have hurt to know that her sister would be dead because of rising him, because of her? How much would she have gone through? I pictured my Aunt. With grey eyes and golden hair like my moms. Whi a kind and loving heart and a strong and determined self.  My Aunt indeed must have been a strong woman. I nodded to Livia as I felt a deep pang in my chest, listening to the tragic love story of my aunt.
