Midoriya moved quickly, and I could see he had damaged his legs. He must've used his power, and hurt himself again.
Why does he have to be so dumb? Brave, I'll admit, but dumb and reckless as well.
"Midoriya! (L/N)!" I heard a call from behind me.
I didn't stop. I ran faster, instead. He seemed so far ahead of me. My muscles strained with exertion.
"Get away from All Might!" Midoriya cried.
I could see it happen almost like it was in slow motion, as Shigaraki's hand reached through the warp.
No, no, no.
"Watch—" I began.
Midoriya managed to turn his face. He raised his arm, and Shigaraki's hand made contact with it. The sleeve of his gym uniform crumbled. His forearm did so too, revealing the flesh beneath the skin.
"—out!" I finished.
I grabbed the collar of his uniform. Throwing my weight back suddenly, I yanked on the fabric. I managed to pull him back enough to remove the contact, then my grip slipped. I stumbled back a couple steps from the force of my movement.
A shot rang out, and Shigaraki pulled back a bleeding hand.
Backup!
Midoriya fell. As soon as I regained my footing, I lunged to catch him. I felt my knees, my cloak sinking around us.
His arm was still crumbling. He made eye contact with me. "(L/N)."
"Give me permission," I ordered. His flesh was beginning to fall away like cracked paint. If he took too long—
"Wh-what?!" He sputtered.
"Give me permission!"
He looked confused, but complied due to the urgency in my voice. "I give you permission."
"Don't tell anyone." I whispered.
I took out my right hand, and his eyes widened at the sight. He slowly took it in, from the scales to my claw-like nails.
I took a quick look around. Everybody was too distracted to notice, and my cloak shielded us from view enough that, either way, using it wouldn't be much of a problem. Slowly, I placed my right hand on his arm.
Okay, control it. Only the wound on his arm. Nothing else. Nothing else.
I held in my response to the pain as it shot up my arm, unable to stop myself from tensing at the sensation. "Done. Don't say a word about this to anyone. Promise."
He stared at his no-longer-crumbling left arm. "Wh—"
"Promise," I snapped.
"I-I promise I won't say a word."
"Good. You haven't registered the pain for your legs, so I won't have to take that for the moment. Now, let's go. The pros are here, and we'll need to get you fixed up." I switched the topic as seamlessly as I could, taking him into my arms.
He couldn't see that my arm was now crumbling, and so couldn't fight against me lifting him. My arm was in complete agony, but I ignored it as I stood up, bringing him with me. My cloak hung over my arms, and I gripped it in place with my fingers.
