Step 10

"You're sweating like crazy," Janine pointed out. Being the talkative girl she was, she needed to point out obvious things so you know...she could talk.

The showcase hall was huge, twice the size of a cinema. It had a second floor and people would be able to view from up there. Unluckily from me, since I was one of the participants, I was required to be here in the backstage. I was also allowed to bring my friends in the backstage. Of course, I needed their moral support.

Lawrence, Marius, and Lucy were on the other side of the room. I bet that Lawrence wanted his sister to be there since he didn't want Lucy lingering around me. He hated my guts like I hated his. Marius, of course, didn't want to mingle with my crew. I was willing to bet that he'd got this reputation that he needed to keep.

"You'll do great," Carter assured me. He placed an arm around my shoulder like it was nothing. The crew was oblivious to our intimacy because they were used to seeing us like this. I still didn't want the crew to know about Carter's confession. I didn't want to have an issue regarding the feelings of my bestfriend who was a fellow crew member.

I decided to not comment at what Janine and Carter said. I just focused my attention to Mike, "I bet you're dying to see Lucy dance,"

Even though Mike had got a boulder-like body, the faint blush on his cheeks made him look sensitive and adorable. Who knew that someone like Lucy would bring this side of him even without her knowing? "I bet she's going to do great," he commented. The rest of the crew just chuckled at him. He wasn't even denying his feelings for Lucy.

"If that Marius Stan messes up your performance, I'm going to kill him," Cindy had this look in her eye saying that she was serious. Well, maybe not about the 'going to kill him' part but I bet that she was going to make him suffer if he messed up my performance in purpose.

"You need to win this, Aria," Kenneth said seriously. "You need to put Lawrence Luther's feet on the ground. You need to show him who's the boss,"

"Oh please," I rolled my eyes. "That's my plan right from the very start. I don't forget easily and I'm going to make him pay for calling me messed up,"

"That's my girl," Carter chuckled. I decided not to comment on what he said...just to play it safe and to avoid suspicion.

***

I was at the side of the stage together with Marius whilst Lawrence was on the other side together with Lucy. My friends were already sitting together with the rest of the audience. We were told that I was to go on first. Lawrence and Lucy were to watch us from the side.

Lawrence got this look in his eye that I couldn't quite put a finger on and Lucy had this look saying that she was wishing me luck.

I wasn't able to hear anything. I could see the audience clapping but I was hearing no sound. Maybe my ears were focused on the sound of my beating heart.

What the four of us wore was nothing spectacular. We were going to be judged based by our skills, not our costume. I was wearing a simple blue dress whilst Lucy was wearing a simple white one. The guys were both wearing long sleeved white top and black slacks.

Marius and I placed ourselves at the center of the stage. I took a deep breath and waited for our cue to dance.

"It's just too god to be true,

Can't take my eyes off of you,

You'd be like heaven to touch,

I wanna hold you so much..."
