Sawyer's POV
Today was Monday. Also referred to most as the least favorite day of the week. I couldn't help but sigh in total exhaustion.
It came so fast and I was sitting in the middle of Miss Thrumble's class. Apparently, they called her 'Miss Trouble' for a reason. She was no doubt the most vicious college teacher I have ever came across. I know that I should be focusing on my class but...I just can't help being distracted, you know. To think a lot has happen in just a few days since the moment I arrived in this damn town.
I looked down on my hand where it was last burned from whatever that thing was. For some reason its still there. Some sort of faded charred sport in the palm of my hand. Even that bear's claw wounds managed to heal. So, what makes that rock different from the rest of the objects that hurt me in the past? Is it because it's magic? Will my hand ever heal, or will it stay scarred?
Yesterday, when the stone blew me across my living room, we left it with Aisha's friend to find out more about it. Jesse decided to help research the rock while doing his studies on the side and me and Aisha did the same. Although things have been pretty rough, and it wasn't until today when I walked in WCU's property I noticed the looks the other students were giving Aisha. When I asked her about it, she just shrugged and said it was just another normal day for her here at WCU. I wondered if it had anything to do with what Garrett said to her on that boat.
It made me angry thinking about how wrong they were treating her. Spreading rumors about her and then making it their personal mission to make her live a living hell. I growled at the thought.
Stupid, immature, worthless piece of-
*SNAP*
I heard the sound of a pencil snapping in half. Of course, it was my pencil being snapped in half. Looking back up, I see everyone eyeing at me with curious yet shocked face. Except miss Thrumble who looked more annoyed then shocked.
Great, now everyone is looking at me like some foreign object.
"Is there a problem mister...Lynch was it?" she asked adjusting her glasses.
"Sorry ma'am. My pencil broke," I answered and she narrows her eyes at me before continuing with her lecture.
"Sawyer, are you okay?" I hear someone ask me. When I turned to that voice, I was facing Aisha, who had a worried look on her face.
"Sorry I just...I'm fine dont worry about it," I replied and before she could've said anything else the bell rang, signaling the end of class.
None of us said a word as we walked through campus grounds. We decided to go to the library where we would further investigate what kind of supernatural creature we were dealing with, while Jesse researches the meaning of the emblem on that rock. Hopefully it helps us determine the next step we should take in order to get rid of that thing. I also hope that the WCU university library have answers. As we walked towards the library that stood all the way on the other side of campus grounds, something made us both stop dead in our tracks.
There was a statue that held many student's picture on it...including that of Chloe. It was a memorial and a lot of students that walked past, set a flower before continue walking. I glanced at Aisha to see her shaking, but not with grief. Instead...I could have smelled the thick, lingering scent of anger.
"This is bullshit," she growls so suddenly which made me flinch slightly at how she snapped. "None of these people didn't even knew her and the ones who did knew her treated her like crap just because she was seen hanging with me. Now that she's gone...they're suddenly crying?"
I can relate to what shes feeling. It feels like a piece of your soul has been ripped from you and no matter how much you try to ignore it; the pain just keeps eating away at you. With no way of replacing what was lost. She was crying too. For her friend. I felt my heart dropped at the sight of Aisha in pain. But I grit my teeth and nudged at her elbow. I sighed and nodded towards the library a few walk away.
