•❅──────✧❅✦❅✧──────❅•Lila and Devin were to speak to Luna's family today, she was never the best at telling the families about the losses of loved ones. Devin drove while Lila stared out the window, waiting to get to the Carrington's home.
"Are you okay, Lils?" Devin asked, turning his head to look at Lila for a few seconds. "Yeah but this family just lost their daughter and they had so much hope that she'd be alive." Lila bit her lip as Devin parked in the Carrington's driveway. "We can't save everyone." He set his hand on Lila's shoulder, squeezing it gently.
They both stepped out of the car and sauntered to the front door. Lila let her knuckles hit the door a few times before pulling out her badge. "Hello?" A soft voice spoke, sounding like she'd been crying.
"Mrs. Carrington? I'm SSA Miller and this is Dr. Reid. We're here to talk to you about, Luna." They flashed her their badges and she invited them in. "Is...Is Luna alright?" Lila looked at Devin before answering. "I'm very sorry, where's your husband? We need you both here." Lila smiled softly at Mrs. Carrington.
"Bill! Come here, honey!" she called for her husband. Soon, Mr. Carrington walked out of the kitchen, toward his wife. "What's going on?" He questioned, his eyes flickering from Devin to Lila.
"Mr. and Mrs. Carrington, your daughter's body was found in Zilker Park at around 3:30 last night." Mrs. Carrington immediately broke down in tears, leaning on her husband for support.
After a few minutes, Mrs, Carrington was slowly calmed. "Could I ask you a few questions?" Lila piped up and the couple nodded, sitting together on the couch.
"I know teenagers can be secretive but did you notice anyone watching Luna, at all? Maybe an older man?" Mr. Carrington shook his head. "I don't know anyone who would want to harm her." Lila turned her attention to the wife, who looked around the room blinking back more tears.
Lila knelt down in front of Mrs. Carrington. "Did you notice anyone? This could help us locate who did this to your daughter." Luna's mother nodded. "James, he always came around the house. He would bring flowers, just to be nice, but sometimes he would ask Luna to go to lunch with him."
"When did he start asking her that?" Devin questioned. "About a month ago." Lila licked her lips. "What's his last name?" "Hudson."
Detective Hudson's first name was James. "Thank you, that's all I had to ask." Devin and Lila said their goodbyes and headed to the SUV parked outside. They settled in the car and Devin began to drive back to the station. "I think we just found our unsub."
