Over the course of the next four months, Lila and Devin quickly became best friends. He was her safe place, someone she could talk to about absolutely anything.

Sometimes they'd have dinner together, alternating from Lila's apartment to Devin's house.

Lila couldn't lie about her feelings for Devin. Emily knew about it and she could tell that Derek and JJ kept trying to profile her. Devin had finally met Henry who loved him right away like the caring kid he was.

She talked to Devin almost any chance she got, whether it was about a case or something personal. Devin also told Lila all about his little sister, Clara.

He told her how he loved his sisters smile and laugh. Apparently, Clara could make anyone smile while tackling her own problems. To Lila, Devin's littler sister sounded like an amazing girl.

JJ watched Lila steal small glances at Devin all the time on cases, until Lila caught her in the act.

Derek always tried to get her to confess her feelings but Lila always brushed her godfather away, laughing as she sat at her desk.

"Hey, Lils!" Devin said when she walked into work with Spencer next to her. "Good morning, Dev." She smiled, placing her bag on her desk. Lila watched Derek shake his head, he couldn't believe they weren't dating yet.

"Do we have a case?" Spencer questioned, pointing to Hotch's office where him and Rossi stood, discussing some sort of case. Emily shrugged, taking a sip of coffee and handing a cup to Lila and one to Spencer.

Lila smiled at Emily, mumbling a quick "thank you." Hotch walked out of his office, Rossi following him. "We have a case." Aaron said and the team looked at each other, sighing.

They walked into the conference room and Lila took a seat between Devin and JJ. Penelope stood at the front of the room, remote in hand and ready to present the case.

"So, two weeks ago in Las Vegas, Nevada, 24-year-old Carlos Roads was abducted." A picture of the victims face appeared on the screen. "Two days after he was reported missing by his wife, Carlos' body was found in a dumpster behind a bar."

A picture of the dump site came up, along with another face of a victim. "Now we have Darryl Hamilton who was abducted four days ago."

Another picture of the dump site appeared. "He was also found in a dumpster behind a bar." The team studied the pictures in their case files.

"It looks like they were strangled and hit over the head with something. A pipe or a crowbar." Derek looked around at the team, his eyes landing on Penelope last. "There's ligature marks on their wrists, it looks like they were made with a belt."

"These are both physically fit men so they wouldn't be overpowered easily, so I think we're dealing with a male unsub." Derek said.

"We will talk more with the officers working this case when we get there. Wheels up in 30." The team dispersed and walked out of the room.

"We'll be landing in a couple minutes." Hotch started. "Lila and I will set up at the local station. Morgan and Reid go to the coroner's office, Prentiss and Miller go to the first dump site. JJ and Dave go to the second dump site."

After the plane landed, the team filed into SUV's which drove them to their assigned locations.

Lila and Hotch stepped out of the car when they got to the station, walking side by side to the door. Hotch opened the door for her. "Thanks." Lila smiled slightly.

"Officer Griffin, I'm SSA Aaron Hotchner, you spoke to our technical analyst on the phone. This is Dr. Lila Reid." Hotch introduced and they shook hands with the Officer.

"You guys can set up in here." Officer Griffin led them to a back room, they set their bags down.

Lila rubbed her eyes. "I'm going to grab some coffee, do you want any Hotch?" She asked, grabbing the case file out of her bag and setting it on the table. "No, thank you." Hotch responded, staring at the bored where the victims faces and crime scene photos where taped up.

She walked out to the officers little lounge room where the coffee pot was. "You're a new face." An unfamiliar voice said behind Lila.

After she poured her coffee, she turned around, seeing a man in an officers uniform. "Yeah, hi. I'm Dr. Lila Reid with the FBI." Lila held her hand out to the new person. "I'm Thomas Jackson with the Las Vegas police department." He chuckled. "Nice to meet you, Officer Jackson." She took a sip from her coffee.

"My Unit Chief is waiting for me to help on this case so i should get going." Thomas nodded and Lila walked out of the lounge.

She stepped back into the room with Hotch. Derek and Spencer sat at the table. "Each victim was stabbed multiple times with what the coroner said looked like a bigger kitchen knife." Spencer looked at the file.

"But then they were shot in the back of the head."

Lila sat next to her father who wrapped an arm around her shoulder and kissed her temple. She smiled slightly and flipped through the case file. "Why would the unsub dump their bodies in a dumpster?" She questioned. "He could feel like he's not good enough compared to them, these men are strong and they have wives and kids."

"So he could be jealous? That could mean we're looking for someone who's smaller than these men."

Lila bit her lip in thought and looked at the crime scene photos. This case would be a long one.
