Yiseo

"NAE PI TTAM NUN MUL~ NAE MAJIMAK CHUMEUL~ DA GAJYEOGAAAAAAAA GAAAAAAAA~ WONHAE MANHI MANHI~"

Soyeon, Jaemin, and I were singing on top of our lungs an old song, which was my dad's group's hit song. After that, we also sung songs from even older groups such as BigBang, SNSD, Super Junior, etc. Yes, we loved good pop songs.

"I can't believe you two are related to famous people," Jaemin said when we were taking a break, "and Yiseo is even the daughter of the person!"

We both laughed and drank a couple cans of soda while also eating some french fries.

"They're not that famous anymore and our lives aren't that unusual," Soyeon said.

"She's right. My dad's a company man right now and Uncle Jimin is also working for a company even though he's still releasing solo albums," I said.

We kept eating and chatting before I remembered the event that occurred 2 days ago. "Hey, guys," I said, "I met Namgyu that day."

"Park Namgyu?! The guy you've been crushing on ever since freshman year?!"

"Yeah, and my prankster dad did something and now I have his number."

"Heol, daebak!" Soyeon said. "Text him right now!"

"No way!"

"Yeah way! What are you waiting for?"

"I don't think now's a good time," I said. "It's Sunday. He could be in church with his family or hang out with his siblings or-"

Before I could even finish talking, Soyeon grabbed my phone from me and ran away, causing me to panic and chase her to get my phone back. Jaemin, on the other hand, was just laughing and not helping at all.

"Soyeon, I swear to God, don't you dare-"

"There, sent!" Soyeon said which caused me to freeze.

There was it. That was the last time I would breathe because I'm gonna kill myself after this. This had too much embarrassment for me.

"Oh, come on, Yiseo. Chill out! He'll probably take it as a joke," Jaemin said while putting his arm on my shoulder.

"Yeah, Yiseo. He would probably reply or would probably not. No big deal," Soyeon said.

Well, for more context, Soyeon was basically a much more party girl than me. She dated many guys and didn't take it as a big deal. She was your typical playful high school girl. But she was undoubtedly intelligent and was incredibly kind, at least to me and Jaemin. I could learn how to have fun because of her.

"But what if he hates me? O-or that I annoy him by sending the message? Or-"

"Yiseo. Take. A. Chill. Pill," both of them said at the same time.

I sighed, then I decided to let it go. There was no way he would reply to an unknown number anyway, right?

We spent a few more hours at the karaoke centre before we finally left and looked for food. We bought many kinds of street food along the way. Street food's the best kind of treats, especially when you're with your friends.

We were laughing and chatting and eating for hours until I realized it was already 9.30 PM, which was my time to go home. Soyeon and Jaemin wanted to fight, but they knew about my curfew, so they always took me home after going out together.

On our way home, I noticed a figure of an ahjussi not too far in front of us walking with a nice, tall lady. I didn't care about it at first, but the fact that then shirt he was wearing was incredibly familiar to me bothered me, until I realized the owner of that shirt.

"Dad?"

That man turned around and looked pretty surprised when he found out the one that called his name was me.

"Y-Yiseo! You're on your way home now?"

"Uh, yeah," I said, then I turned to the pretty lady next to him. "Who is she?"

"U-Um..." he said while looking down.

Everyone was waiting for his answer, so he sighed and continued. "Yiseo, this is Aiko Ogawa. I just had a dinner with her."

The night had come  earlier than I thought. I dressed up quite neatly; a blue shirt and a  pair of black pants. I went to Aiko's house who apparently wasn't too  far from mine. I rang the doorbell, then it revealed a very attractive  woman.

I brought her to a fine dining restaurant near her house. We spent such a pleasant evening,  considering the fact that I hadn't gone out with a woman privately for such a long time. Then, it became awkward when we bumped into Yiseo and her friends on our way back home.

"Y-Yiseo! You're on your way home now?"

"Uh, yeah," she said. "Who is she?"

"U-Um..."

Everyone, including her friends, seemed to want to know the answer. "Yiseo, this is Aiko Ogawa. I just had a dinner with her."

"Hi, Yiseo!" Aiko called, waving her hands to Yiseo. "We were just talking about you. It's so nice to meet you."

Yiseo was feeling a little awkward, especially with her friends being there. Before I could say anything, she spoke up, "Uh, dad. I think my friends and I are gonna go buy some ice cream first. I'll see you at home."

I nodded, so we parted our ways. After I got back to my apartment, it was only a few minutes apart when Yiseo also got back.

"Hey, you're home," I said, but she didn't reply me.

I sighed, then I asked the obvious question, "Are you upset?"

"No, dad, I'm not upset."

"Then why are you ignoring me?"

She sighed too. "It just feels... weird. That's all."

"Yiseo, if you don't want me to date," I said, "just tell me. I would gladly not to if you say the word."

"No,  dad, that's not it," she said. "Your dating life is your own business. I  grew up without a mom, so I don't have anyone to compare your  girlfriend with anyway."

"Okay, no, she's not my girlfriend."

"Listen to me. I want you to be happy, dad," she said while looking up at me, "but I want you to be honest with me. If you're dating someone, tell me so it wouldn't feel so weird suddenly meeting up with you guys like  this. Don't wait until things got serious."

"Yiseo," I said, pulling her into my arms, "I'm just worried that it would affect you and your life if I do this."

"Dad,  don't let me be the reason you'd be single for the rest of your life," she said. "Go out, have fun. You're still in your 40s, there's still plenty of women in the sea. Or men, if that's what you prefer, I don't mind."

"Aish," I said, "when did you suddenly become an adult? I'm the one who should lecture you about this thing."

She chuckled, then she kissed my cheek before saying goodnight and entering her bedroom.
