"Are you all set?"
"Yep," she said. "My flight boards in 2 hours."
People were going back and forth with their luggage, causing both Yiseo and Taehyung to be nervous.
"Are you sure you're gonna be fine being in a whole different country all by your own?" her dad asked.
"I'll be fine, don't worry," she said. "After all, you're gonna be visiting me, right?"
He smiled. "Of course I will."
"Yiseo, I'm so proud of you!" Mijoo exclaimed as she decided to speak up after a while holding back her tears seeing the kid she helped raising when she was little about to go off to college in a country that was hundreds of miles away from everyone.
"Yiseo, don't forget to study well and send us postcards, okay?" Jimin said as he hugged her, which she hugged back.
"I will, uncle," she said. "I'm going to miss all of you."
"You must be so proud," Kaori said, causing Taehyung to turn around. "You've raised such a kind-hearted and smart daughter all by your own."
He smiled. "Are you talking about yourself?" he asked with a chuckle. "Look at yourself, Kaori. You raised Kiyoko by yourself and she's now back in New York, working in one of the top tech firms in the city."
She was embarrassed when Taehyung said that to her. She could only look away so he wouldn't see her smiling. "Yiseo," she said, turning to the main star of the day. "If you have any troubles, don't hesitate to contact Kiyoko. She may not be in the same city as you, but she told me that she would do anything to help you."
"Thanks, Kaori. I will."
"To all passengers for flight to Maryland, USA with Korean Air number 701, your flight has arrived. We're calling everyone to check in and stand by in the gate. Thank you."
After the announcement was over, everyone looked back at Yiseo who was sighing.
"Well, that's my flight," she said. "I guess this is goodbye."
"Don't forget to call us when you arrive!"
She giggled, noticing how protective her Uncle Jimin was. "Yes, uncle."
"Yiseo," her dad said, "are you ready?"
She took a breath before she hugged her father. "You've prepared me for this for the last couple of years, of course I'm ready," she said. "Thank you, dad, for everything. I promise I won't let you down."
Taehyung then proceeded to kiss her on the forehead and hugged her for one last time before he broke it off. "Have a safe flight, kid."
She nodded, then she picked up her luggage and went inside to check in. She turned around for the last time to wave a goodbye to everyone she loved before finally going in for good.
Taehyung was smiling until he couldn't see her anymore. He just wished, from the bottom of his heart, that Jihae would be there to witness the stepping stone that Yiseo just took to achieve her dream.
"Good luck, Kim Yiseo," he muttered. "Make your mom and dad proud."
