Yiseo
"Earth to Kim Yiseo!!"
I snapped back to reality as Soyeon practically screamed at my ears. "You startled me!"
"I have been calling your name for the last 5 minutes! Where is your mind traveling to?"
I sighed. "Ugh, I don't know. There's so much stuff going on in my mind."
"What stuff? What happened?"
I looked at the ground while biting my finger nails. "My dad... Namgyu... Harvard," I said, quite soullessly.
"Are the three of them somehow connected or..."
"Nah. I think if it were connected, it would make it easier for me," I said. "Weird stuff is going on with my dad, Namgyu basically asked me to stay, and Harvard's application deadline is a few months away."
She raised an eyebrow. "Wait, wait, wait. Hold up," she said. "About your dad, let's talk about that next time. But can you please give me more details about what happened with Namgyu? HE DID WHAT?"
I chuckled. I knew Soyeon would lose her mind when I told her that. "Well, it's not like he begged me or anything. He just asked me to consider staying here in Korea to study at SNU with him rather than going to Harvard."
Soyeon took a long, deep breath, seemed like to calm her nerves. "Son of a bitch."
"No, no, hey. Come on, don't be mad. He's being sweet actually."
"Tell that to his 16th century girlfriend instead," she said.
I giggled. At times I was actually glad to have a fierce friend like Soyeon that I could always count on.
"I'm still going to Harvard anyway," I said, "but I can also understand why he asked me that. He just wanted to stay together with me and I would be lying if I said I didn't want the same thing."
"Kim Yiseo," she said, "I freaking decided to go to Stanford because I wanted to go to the states with you. Are you choosing him over me now?!"
"Aish, don't be so dramatic. You decided to go to Stanford because the job opportunity in technology there is incredible, not because of me."
"Well, basically yeah, but you were my deciding factor!"
We were about to have a long ass conversation when the door was knocked. Well, it's about time. "Namgyu, Johnny. Hey!"
Okay, so long story short Namgyu was bringing me to his brothers' wedding party as his date and Johnny, the same guy who Soyeon flirted with during the summer camp, turned out to be Namgyu's cousin and he was bringing her as his date too.
"So, are you guys ready?" Namgyu asked.
"Yeah, ready to punch you in the face," Soyeon replied while grabbing her purse and making her way out.
Namgyu raised an eyebrow and looked at me with confusion. I laughed it off and shrugged, telling him not to worry about Soyeon.
We arrived at the big and beautiful wedding venue that was located outdoor. There were lots of people there which were strangers to me but definitely not to Namgyu. Everyone greeted him and I could only stand awkwardly behind him as he made a conversation with other people. The same case happened to Soyeon.
"Geez, I wonder how many people Namgyu's brother invited," Soyeon said as we took a break at the bar.
"But I thought you loved parties! You know, hanging out with lots of people."
"Yeah, but not with people of the age above 30."
Unexpectedly, as the day was becoming more late, I was being more recognized by other people. The one and only reason was because the bride found out that I was BTS V's daughter and apparently almost half the amount of people who came was a fan of the boy group. Again, the same thing happened to Soyeon too as people found out she was BTS Jimin's niece.
"I didn't know being a niece of a person whose music group is no longer active would be this exhausting," Soyeon said when both of us decided to sit at the table and not go anywhere so people wouldn't look for us.
"I know! I was constantly asked what my dad was up to recently, what were his plans, etc. God, these people should mind their own business, you know?"
When I was about to continue the meal that I hadn't finished eating, I noticed the presence of someone that I knew very fondly.
I stood up and approached her. "Eonni?"
"Jihae?" she said. "I was about to ask what you were doing here when I remember that this is Namgyu's brother's wedding."
I chuckled. "Yeah, he asked me to be his date," I said. "So, what are you doing here?"
"Oh, my aunt is the manager of this place and I came because my mom had to visit her."
"Miss Tadashi is here?" I asked. "Where is she? I want to say hi and apologize, considering how awkward it was that day, right?"
Her facial expression seemed to change. I noticed she was becoming uneasy. "I don't think we should be talking for a while, Jihae," she said, which caused me to be surprised. "I would still help you with your application, but you should just send me through email or something."
I raised an eyebrow. "Huh, why? What happened? Did I do something wrong, eonni?"
She, too, raised an eyebrow. "What? No, no. Hasn't your dad told you what happened between him and my mom?"
I didn't know why I was becoming uneasy like her. "N-No. What did happen?"
"I'm your half sister, Yiseo," she said, giving me the most unexpected respond I had ever imagined. "Your dad is my long lost dad."
