"A succu-what?" Part of me just hadn't connect the dots, they were demons.
"What, so what are you?" I turned to cayde.
"Anya is basically a sex eating demon and I'm just human partly, I'm practising magic," he seemed pleased with himself. Cayde was human, interesting.
"So you good with demons?" I asked cayde, he nodded and stood. He grabbed some crisps. Anya popped her bag open, and she began to pour hula hoops into her mouth. Though, oddly kinda sexy. Again I was confused at my horny emotions.
"Um, why am I so horny?" Anya practically choked on her crisps. Cayde spoke up,
"Oh, probably because Anya is in the room, she give off a sexual energy that makes people incredible horny," Anya swallowed her crisps, she grinned and stood, she swayed over to the door,
"Okay, mama got business to do, so I'll catch you later Jason, and Cayde...?" Her eyebrow rose,
"Yes, I know. Rent!" He exclaimed. She left the apartment.
"Hey, How much is rent?" I glanced at the table, I haven't even noticed but there was a small crisp triangle on the table. Huh?
"Four fifty, and you get to pay half of it, I have a spare bedroom, if you want it. Last night you kept complaining that you'd been kicked out and fired," he looked at me suspiciously, I shrugged
"Yeah I'd love a room, are you sure?"
I asked, he walked over with a bottle of brandy and two glasses.
"Well I need a drinking buddy," we both laughed, right now any alcohol was the devil, I spied the glass suspiciously Not wanting to go though that hole ordeal again,
"Ha, don't worry this isn't as strong as the stuff at my bar, promise." I eyed the amber liquid and the golden glow of the glass like cubes. I hadn't realised I needed a drink until I took a sip. It was sweet,
"God that's good." I sighed, the brandy turned down the volume of my frantic thoughts. Bringing up past memories of good times. I let myself dwell on them rather than thinking of my situation. And somehow it steadies me, giving me the resolve to go on.
"Yeah, it's Courvosier," he smiled, "on this one, I placed the magic spell, with each person it's different, so Anya made the alcohol stronger, and I made it goood," he emphasised the word good.
"Yeah I understand, it's amazing," his strange explanation made me happy, I almost felt normal in his presents, like we had been friends for a long time.
"Can i ask how you learned magic?" Cayde sipped his drink and settled in the arm chair, This dark cat jumped up and snuggled into cayde, he began to stroke it. I gave him a strange look,
"Cat?" He laughed lightly
"This is Baileys, and yeah. It was about a year ago, I was on the way to the bar and this idiot demon was feeding off of this human so much that it drove the human to suicide. I tried to stop him, but in the process he pulled me with him." Cayde paused and smushed Baileys face together. The cat was purring loudly, as he began to stroke it again, "as we reached the ground we both somehow stopped, I didn't know what was happening until Anya popped out of no where and grabbed us both, she healed the human. Though she yelled at me," he laughed loudly,
"So some dude jumped of a building and pulled you with him and Anya saved the both of you?" Confused at how this gave him magic,
"No I stopped us, somehow I had made us float, and humans aren't allowed magic unless they are witches, so Anya took the blame," he drank more of his brandy and we slipped into a comfortable silence. The living room was nice; the kitchen was this charcoal colour with a breakfast bar with three red bar seats. There was a large blue round rug beneath the two arm chairs and sofa i was sitting on, the coffee table was small and wooden, and so was the TV stand. there were three doors the one closest to the kitchen was the bathroom, and one had to be a bedroom and the other would be mine. I noticed the desk and gaming laptop in the corner. the silence was nice for a while.
"So you've only been a demon for a few years, that must be weird," Cayde added. Shifted in his seat, i heard the ticking of a clock somewhere.
"Yeah, it's all a bit strange," I sighed, there had been so much going on in the last year that most of it hurt. I had done things I regretted, things that kept me up at night. There was a darkness that i tried to bury, part of me had had enough of it. I didn't ask to be this. But as I glanced at Cayde and the thought of Anya, a small almost microscopic piece of hope surfaced and maybe it wasn't such a bad life.
"Okay, big question. Do you know what type of demon you are?" Cayde leaned forward disrupting the cat, baileys jumped down and disappeared from sight.
"I didn't even know what a succubus was until today," i shrugged, he smiled.
"Well what do you feed on? chi? blood, anguish?" Cayde quizzed.
A dark memory tried to surface, one of death, blood and heartache. I banished it from my brain and focused,"Blood." the thought of draining someone made me sick.
"Okay, well first off you might be a vamp, but i doubt it," Cayde pondered out loud,
"Why? i drink blood," I was baffled, the feeling becoming more familiar by the minute.
"Well, one you're fine in the sun light and lots of things drink blood, not just vamps. but i assume you came back from the dead?" i nodded at Cayde's question, he continued, "Okay, well we may have to ask Anya but you maybe some sort of revenant," before I could even comprehend the information there was a loud BANG! from outside. Then Anya burst into the room.
"Well that was a load of crap! Sometimes I wish I could rip her head off! you know?" she nodded at me as if i knew what was happening, I shook my head. She crashed into the sofa besides me, she was in this dark red skin tight dress, with killer red heals on. she looked at me,
"What you lookin' at?" she snapped, her green eyes becoming red.
Hahahaha! Cayde started to laugh, her eye faded back to a dark jade green. she cocked her head and sighed,
"It didn't go to plan then?" Cayde continued to chuckle,
"No, sometimes I hate higher demons, no one know's anything," Anya was pissed, part of me had know idea what was going on, but that seemed to be the thing around here,
"You okay?" she turned to me, crossing her legs on the sofa, her dress rode up and her black lacy panties were on display, she leaned forward, her tits spilled over her dress. part of me didn't even think she was trying, she probably didn't notice what she was doing because Cayde just shook his head and smiled at me.
"Doomed," he reckoned, Anya shuffled closer making everything giggle, parts of me responded with out my warning, i grabbed the nearest pillow covering myself.
"Um, anyway no one has a clue who you are or who turned you, but good news!" she seemed exited, she clapped her hands quickly and rested them open palm on my forearm, "I have know idea what you are!" her smile was big and almost made me smile until the news sank in
"What? how is that good news?" I questioned. She smiled wickedly.
-I woke up suddenly, thoughts racing. My eyes screamed at the light glaring though the window, I roll over and duck under the covers. The memory of last night coming back. Anya went back to hers, to research. Me and Cayde ordered pizza. I sat up, the adrenaline rush causing nausea. I snatched the curtain, closing it. My eyes adjust to the light and without a doubt I know I have slept too long. The noises outside flooded in, heavy traffic and people milled around.
There was a knock on the door, it swung open. Cayde leaned in
"Hey, I have an early order coming so I'm heading off to work, if you need anything, my numbers on the fridge and Anya has the day off so she's available but definitely knock," he smiled and shut the door. I lay back down thinking about yesterday so much happened; I got fired and kicked out, found Cayde and Anya and now I'm closer to finding out what I am. Hopefully Anya has found something. Also Cayde offered me a job, I have a place to stay and maybe even a life here, though last time I thought that people died. I closed my eyes as a tear escaped, I told myself never to think about it but the past can never be erased. And over whelming sadness came over me. I heard shuffling and the door open,
"I'll be back late so don't wait up, there's food in the fridge," Cayde yelled from the hall, he shut the door and I was alone with my thoughts. I lay like that for a while, I didn't quite know what to do. Cayde was gone, Anya was doing research what could I do. i stood and rummaged through the draws, i found some t-shirts and jeans. i wondered into the bathroom and found some towels in the laundry space behind the room. I hadn't had a decent shower in months. the last place i lived in, the shower was this low pressure cold crap that couldn't even call its self a shower but this looked heavenly or at least as close to heaven as i could get.I stripped down, my clothes all crinkled from sleeping in them, slowly stepping into the tub. toes flinching as they touched the chilled ceramic floor. I turned the water, letting it beat over my head in steam rivulets. closing my eyes to the water as i let the heat soak in to my skin and warm my bones. Steam filling the room. Water pours down my back, drips down my side as my mind fades into dullness and everything turns into a foggy illusion. The felling of steam calms me; it takes my mind of things. the water washing away any concern for my future. my mind swirls, its like an everlasting waterfall. So beautiful, but it can never last.
