I was sat at the table, Anya had given me some books to read about different types of demons. It was fascinating. I read more on succubi, there was a male version called incubus. Some texts even believed that they could change gender at the drop of the hat, so a succubus can change into a man? i wonder if that's true. succubi can also see and feel aura, and the sexual chi is actual bits of your soul. It was very interesting, I wonder what i was, if it was as complex and beautiful as a succubus.
"Sam!" Anya yelled, scaring the crap out of me, i dropped the book i was reading. Cayde laughed,
"You okay there?" Cayde snickered as he spoke,
"Yes!" i punched his arm, we were laughing by the time Sam entered the room. Over the course of two days me and Cayde had become really good friends. Sam walked over to the table, his hair was damp and he had changed since the last time i had seen him, he was in a long sleeved top and dark blue jeans.
"Can you read this?" Anya pulled some papers out of her pile and handed them to Sam,
"Oh...yeah," He nodded, but the look of surprised and worry on his face scared me. he filped though the pages and after a long moment of us staring at Sam, he had finished the last page. "Yeah, okay well your right," he glanced at Anya and then looked at me, "Your a Lugat or a type of medically advanced version, I'd have to do some blood work but yeah,"
"A Lugat?" i questioned, and blood work? Anya spoke,
"It's a vampire like being in Albanian mythology," both Anya and Sam explained through out the night, saying because my blood had fought off the virus as i died that it mutated into something not quite a lugat but close. We had ordered pizza and gone into Caydes flat. It was a fun night we listened to music, laughed and ate. Sam had stayed over and so had Anya. Sadly the music was getting to me, A headache started to form, so i excused myself and went to my bedroom. rubbing the side of my head. The door behind me opened and closed. part of me thought it might be Cayde seeing if i was okay but as i turned it was Sam. Sam had come into my room he looked almost nervous, maybe it was excitement.
"Are you okay?" He stepped into my room, his long blond hair had dried and it was bone straight it reached his elbow, It looked kinda fluffy as well. He had rolled up is sleeves and I could see one of his tattoos on his right arm.
He seemed concerned,
"Yeah, just a headache," the ache had subsided a little, the music wasn't so loud in here. I must have looked bad because Sam question me,
"You sure? You look tired," Sam stepped closer, he examined me with a medical eye. I felt like a patient.
"Can I ask something?" I asked, he smiled and nodded, as he turned the light on, I shut my eyes as the light flashed on.
"All that strange medical talk, are you some sort of doctor?" Sam laughed,
"Sadly not yet, over the years I have loved medicine but being immortal I had to move around a lot but thanks to this town I can final study medicine for real, I'm three years in," he seemed so happy, there was a light in his eyes like he was talking about something he held dear.
"Wow, I've never really had that sort of passion for something? I have hobbies that I love but that doesn't seem that same," I tried to do stuff after I turned but people wouldn't hire me and that last place I worked, It was a small bar on the edge of a town forty miles east of here. somehow I had walked from there to this town, I'm glad I did but I don't really have a goal in life right now.
"You know, if you feel lost you should write down stuff you wanna do in life, like a bucket list without the dying bit. It could help, you seem a bit all over the place. But you do seem happy," Sam spoke, he placed a hand on my shoulder, I looked at him. He was right I was happier here, I felt like I almost belong. I smiled, I realised he was just a bit taller that me, 6'2 maybe. His ocean blue eyes seemed to light up everything around them.
"I think I might do that, thank you," I noted. Sam wondered round my room,
"This is lame, you should go shopping for some stuff. He pulled at the wooden set of drawers. I had stuffed my duffel in the top one. It was all I owned, I had a few books and some clothes, I even had a picture of my family but not much, the duffel looked so small in the drawers. Sam pulled it out, he set it one the bed,
"Okay well you need so direction, so fold and sort your stuff," he commanded, I was surprised and shocked for a second. I placed the books and pic on my side table and folded two pairs of jeans, three tops and some boxers.
"Um, that's all I got," Sam looked over and then at me, he was pulling a face. I felt subconscious,
He grabbed the jeans and tops and sectioned them in the second drawer and then grabbed my boxers and put them in one of the top two smaller drawers.
"Okay, well now your room seems sadder," he laughed,
"Hey!" We were giggling when Anya popped her head in, her dark hair fell over her shoulders. She wore some jeans and a tank top.
"Oh men," she smirked, she glanced round the room and pulled a face, "Wow, this is so sad," she smiled, "do you want some more stuff?" She slipped into the room and held her hand up,
"No, no let's got shopping or something," Sam suggested. "Maybe tomorrow?" He looked quite happy about it, I didn't know if I wanted to shop for stuff. It felt to human/ normal life stuff to do.
"Sam, haven't you got your friend coming tomorrow," Anya remarked, Sam's face dropped, he nodded,
"Yeah, and I'm working nights at the hospital so I'll not be around for a bit," he looked at the watch on his hand, panic flashed on his face. "Right yeah, I've got to go," he walked up to me and gave me a hug, I was shocked but returned the favour. "Don't forget that list, and don't do anything stupid," he patted my back, we stood there and stared for a second. It was like he wanted to tell me something but was afraid. He searched my eyes before signing and he left. A strange sense of loneliness fell over me.
"I'm gonna head to bed," I told Anya, she left shorty after.
