The first thing I heard was whispers come behind my door. Flashes of last night came back to me. I kept my eyes closed as I listened, there was a steady patter of rain upon my window, droplets yet to scatter the growing Ray's of sun. The sound brings a calmness to mind, a natural melody. With my eyes at rest I drift back into my dream world, blessed by a moment of solitude. Until the chatter broke though the binds.
"Let me just check on him," whispered from behind the door,
"You can't he might find out!" Anya's voice was clear as day,
"AND!" Anger filled the room next door. There was a long silence. the rain tapped on the windows almost too loud for its own good.
Someone snuck into my room, then walked slowly up to me,
"Hello, Sam," I spoke, Sam sucked in sharp breath, probably shocked.
"How?" He asked, I sat up gingerly, not knowing what the after effects of Anya's succu-voice could do.
"You are either two insanely identical twins, or the same person, also you avoided eye contact last night like your life depended on it," I smiled, "Oh and your watch gave it away," I pointed to her wrist. It was the same vintage round watch Sam had. Looking at her now, she was beautiful; tall, curvy and her eyes, those ocean blue eyes. Sam as a man was remarkable but here as a woman she looked stunning. There was probably a underlining question I had to ask myself but why turn the mood bad.
"Your stunning," I whispered, I hadn't meant to say it out loud, Sam blushed.
"Thank you," her voice was unsteady. We both exchanged a look.
"Sam, do you mind explaining some stuff to me?" I asked. She nodded.
"First off, it's Sammy when I'm like this, it's just a bit easier," she came closer and sat, her thigh brushed mine.
"Okay, Sammy how is this possible?" She laughed, it was light and carefree,
It made me smile.
"I was cursed, it was a very long time ago and she didn't have the power to fully break it. At least I'm only a girl for about four days," she spoke, her tone was light but it obviously bothered her.
"So it's a bit like having a period, but instead of bleeding you turn into a girl..." the shock in Sammy's face was funny it looked the same as when she was a man
"You're right, It is like a period, though Anya would say that it's not fair that I don't get pain. I tent to just change at midnight. No pain, just POOF!" We sat in silence for a bit, letting the rain washing away any bad feelings, it was calming and tranquil.
"You said she couldn't fully break it?" I turned to Sammy, I was now facing her. She kept sitting forwards.
"It's a long story that I don't tell it often, but I feel like I want to tell you." She smiled gingerly. "She was in love with me, that was the first mistake..." She paused, "I was gay, I am gay. Umm. She wanted me to love her, and she assumed I'd like women if I was a woman," she paused again, I rubbed her back to assure her that she was okay. She smiled, "I will never been with a women, and she didn't understand so she cursed me to be one for eternity, but i got angry and made her turn me back. She had done the spell on the blood moon, I didn't realise this so she died changing me back...and now I'm a man for most of the month apart from a few days" she turned to me, "Is it weird, seeing me like this?" She asked, it was strange but I didn't quite see her as Sam she was just her own person. Even though they were the same.
"It's not that weird," I spoke,
I leaned in and hugged Sammy, we stayed like that for a while. I pulled back a bit, I leaned my forehead against hers. She smelled really nice.
I could feel her breath on my cheek. I glanced at her eyes the beautiful big blue orbs. I leaned in brushing my lips against hers only briefly. She shot up and slammed into the wall.
"Shit I'm sorry, I'm just I've never... I'm a, this body is a virgin."
"What?" I mostly didn't hear Sammy, I was more confused at my own actions, why did I do that? Sammy kept blathering on.
"I'm gay so I don't use the female version of me, I usually just stay in my flat or hang out with Anya I don't...." I hadn't even realised was I was doing, what wappened there?
"I'm sorry, I didn't, I don't know why?" I was really confused at what happened.
"I think you're still got some Anya mojo, I um...I'm gonna leave, sorry," Sammy left in a flash, I sat there befuddled. Anya walked in,
"Hey," I looked at her, she seemed Normal like last night hadn't happened.
"I did warn her," Anya smirked. I gave her a confused look, "I made you sleep with my voice, usually when men wake up they grow attached to the first person they see. nothing saucy happened did it?" She winked at me, laughing with her eyes.
"So that wasn't me," i asked, she actually laughed out loud.
"Oh that most certainly was you, just with an added looove" she giggled as she wondered out into the living room. I stood to follow but this ginger kitty weaved around my legs. I stepped out of its way but it followed me.
"There you are," Sammy was standing in the door. I felt happy that she had come back. but the feeling dropped when I remembered what Anya said. How long did this strange attachment last? It was like Anya read my mind,
"Only a few days tops, I did warn you Sammy," Sammy gave Anya evils. She picked up the ginger cat and left. I sat down on the sofa only to be greeted by Baileys jumping on me. He curled up and sat down, I stroked him.
"What happened last night?" I asked, Cayde handed me a coffee.
"From what I gathered, they were there to grab you," Anya had pulled out an old leather book. "I believe that the person that turned you knows your alive, and they want you," She sat down in one of the armchairs.
"What!? Why?" I panicked, Anya glanced over her book, the look she gave was one of stupidity,
"They want you because you are the only recorded demon that has survived the transition within three hundred years." She flipped though some pages.
Cayde turned around,
"You would be an asset, you could have other abilities that we don't even know about. Of all we know you could be more powerful than most common demons. Maybe even rank against higher demons," Cayde smiled. He was becoming somewhat of a good friend, part of me was scared because the last friends I had died...
"Wait, how did they find me?" I questioned, Anya crossed her legs and placed the book down.
"Your blood bond," she almost looked horrified by the thought of it.
"What's a blood bond?" She shuffled uncomfortable. The rain filling in the silence,
"When a demon turns a human they have to use there own blood to heal you. And this creates a bond, in your case I'm sure it's not strong enough to show the demon where you are. They probably didn't even know you were alive till you entered town. In any case I have put up protection around the building," she looked uncomfortable about this all,
"What's wrong?" I asked, she looked at me and let out a sharp laugh,
"Blood bonds are not allowed, so the fact that the demon did this means the enforcers may intervene." She stood and started to wonder around the flat.
"If they do, they have the authority to kill you and anyone that helps," she glanced at the door then back at Cayde. He wasn't paying attention to her but to his coffee, the look on Anya face was one of worry and sadness. There was a distant knocking sound. Anya turned, nodded at me and disappeared. The next thing I heard was whispers from outside.
"She's just dealing with the other tenants," Cayde sipped his coffee, I ran my hands though my hair, wondering how many cups of coffee Cayde had had? I shuffled over a bit and Baileys hopped of me, disappearing. I didn't know what enforcers where, and I knew they should terrify me.
"Hey, what are enforcers?" Cayde let out a large breath,
"Well a few are stationed in all the demonic towns, they are very powerful mostly high or Royal fae, they organize the demons, fae and witches." He got up and grabbed more coffee,
"How much coffee have you had?" He glanced at me and smiled,
"It counteracts Anya's mogo," he poured me another cup,
"Really?" I asked, he nodded. Anya burst into the room, she stopped in her tracks glancing at out cups,
"Not you too, bloody hell at this rate I'll have to call the coffee addiction line," she huffed onto the sofa next to me, she wore black skinny jeans and a dark green tank top.
"Can we break the bond or something?" I inquired, she closed her eyes and huffed again, I think she was pissed at me,
"Yeah but it requires a new bond, and it has to be a higher demon. Also the bond dies when the Demon that turned you dies, so there's that option." She pulled out her phone and began to text someone. I glanced at Cayde, he shrugged.
"Is there a way to find this demon to kill it?" She continued to text, when she was done she looked less annoyed, Cayde spoke up,
"What's wrong?" Anya stuffed her phone in her back pocket,
"Someone had moved into one of my abandoned buildings, I get them checked every week. It's a pain but I handled it." She seemed unsure, but i was hazy on her job, she seemed to be the landlady but she owned abandoned buildings, for what purpose?
"Also there's a way to track the demon but it means strengthen the bond, and then they'd know where you were," I didn't want that, and I didn't really want to strengthen a bond I have no knowledge about.
"There can be another way, but it would require gold and lots of fire," she smiled wickedly,
"What's that?" I asked, in that moment thunder exploded in the sky, I saw Anya flinch, I cocked my head. She swore under her breath,
"It's hell, you'd have to speak to the one and only Satan." Lightning flashed in the sky.
"How would we do that?" I asked, I didn't really want to go to hell but if that was better that notifying the enemy to my location. Cayde swore,
"Lycan..." Anya nodded at Cayde.
"Lycan she's the purple hair'd girl from your bar," I spoke,
"She's a leprechaun, so hide your wallet," Cayde walked into the kitchen. Anya sat where Cayde had been.
"Leprechauns are tricky, and they require payment in advance and they won't soften the landing." I didn't have much money,
"I don't have alot of cash," Anya laughed at me,
"We are demons, she doesn't want cash from us. She wants Irish gold or any gold." Anya stood, leaving the apartment and walked into hers, I followed.
"I know I have some from 1800s but I just need to find where I stashed it." She started to sort through some files, she was bending over. Her ass looked good in tight jeans, slappable.
"Found it, it's north of here in a barn," she was holding a piece of paper, It looked almost official. She folded it, stuffing the paper in her back pocket. She walked back into Cayde's, he was fully dressed, he wore all back again just with an added leather jacket.
"Meet me downstairs, gonna check on Sam," we left.
We waited outside, it was humid but barely the rain was only spitting now. the thunder and lightening had stopped, dark greyclouds blocked out the sky. Anya came out of the door wearing a back denim jacket. She walked up to us with grabbing both of our arms. We were pushed into a void of black for only a second before we were spat out the other side. I landed hard on my side, pain flared.
"Bitch! Could of warned us!" Cayde yelled from beside me, he was flat on his back. The sudden urge to vomit floated around my stomach. Anya was standing. I crawled into my feet and looked at what she was staring at, there was a small town below us. She pointed at a small back barn, a large house was built next to it.
"At least this isn't my first time braking in somewhere," Cayde spoke, he was bent over. Hands on his knees. He looked like he was gonna be sick.
"Well at least it's still standing," she did say the 1800s so I was not shocked that the place had changed. Anya walked past me towards a road. I helped Cayde over to the road.
"How about a three mile walk?" Anya smiled as she strut her ass forward in heals.
"Great, this will be fun," Cayde mumbled. I hoped we could flag a car down but they would probably only give Anya a ride. I huffed as we begin walking towards the village.
