the sound of chattering and soft laughter of the students, the sight of the scorching sun, students running around the lawn, playing, sitting, running, just makes mingyu want to live forever like this, he and his best friend, wonwoo, the two of them together, forever.they sit on the bleachers of the court, as they listen to one anothers rants, jokes, stories, or maybe even their cries. the sight of them being together always, marks that they have a strong friendship through thick nor thin. they can be even mistaken as lovers showing that they take care of each other very well.
but no they aren't, they were just friends. they even made a promise to never like each other or their friendship will be over. but life isn't like that, promises aren't fullfiled, friends are to be separated, hearts are meant to be broken. you think this is already worse? no no, this is just his past, now mingyu needs to face the present, he needs to keep moving forward, no matter what.
mingyu looks outside their classroom window, he watches the dark clouds starting to pour rain drop by drop. he would usually participate in class and take down notes, but no, he doesn't, not now.
even his closest friend minghao, and probably the only classmate whom he trusts is worried about what is happening to him, he usually is active in class and would eat lunch with his friends, but like i have said, that was before, now is different, he is different. "mingyu?" snaps minghao, "y-yeah?" he stutters "are you daydreaming again?" he asked,"yeah, i m-mean, its not like you haven't daydreamed for a 1000th time in class about your 'future hot chinese boyfriend'" he replies.
"yeah yeah whatever" minghao said sarcastically rolling his eyes and going back to taking down notes. mingyu smiles back at him knowing that even he is going through alot already he would still have on person to care for him. his smile faded as he goes back to his plain boring window.
"hey minghao?" he asked nervously "what?" he replies "random question....where do you spend lunch break?, just thought of something" "ummmm i usually eat with some of my other friends, if not, i just go to the library or sit on the bleachers" he replied "why, is there something wrong?" he asked again "n-nothing, just askin'" he replied. bleachers. friends. lunch. he murmurs. he remembers the times he spent his break like that with friends, sitting on the bleachers. he shakes his head once more to wake up from his daydreams.
the bell rang, signaling recess. mingyu packs up his notebooks in which he didn't even dare to jot down notes. he looks back at minghao who is getting his wallet from his bag. "eat well gyu" he said with a be-happy smirk on his face, "yeah you too" he replied.
he took out his book and a piece of biscuit, he lately spends his recess alone, inside the classroom with few of his classmates left. he watched the students eating and chattering outside, some waiting for their other friends, some going to the canteen, and yet, here he is, inside a lonely classroom, reading a book. he listened to the soft chatters of his remaining classmates. it really didn't bother him at all, but sometimes, he would want to get up and punch those assholes gossiping about him.
"hey, isn't that mingyu?"
"yeah the one who hung out with wonwoo all the time? wonder why he isn't with him"
"he hangs out with wonwoo? the jeon wonwoo?"
"yeah, they said they used to be friends, dunno what happened"
"maybe mingyu left him, such a jerk"
he didn't want to listen to these gossips anymore, it was just hurting him more and more. he read his book frustratingly as the gossip continues behind him. he couldn't take it anymore. sometimes he would just wish he wasn't even born. he closes his book stands up, heads for the door, slammed it and ran past the prattling students. he heads towards the 2nd floor restroom where no one usually goes there. he locks himself inside a cubicle and started to sob once more. tears started to roll down his cheek, then dropping on the floor
"i-i miss you so much..wonwoo" he mumbles.
he goes out of the cubicle leaving him with a teary eye and red face. he washes up and heads out of the restroom wearing his hood. he decided to take a stroll instead of going back to his classroom, he couldn't just bare any longer to hear the whispers about him.
he runs downstairs passes by some lockers where some students where sitting nearby. he ran towards the corridors straight to the gym where he'll be spending his break sitting on a bench, as he was about to enter the gigantic doors of the gym, he encounters a group, his old friends' group. they saw mingyu with faint smirks on their faces. oh shit. not now. mingyu never spared a glance on wonwoo, leaving them blank faces. "h-hi" wonwoo mutters. mingyu just nods and walk past by them. he didn't dare to speak to them anymore since he was shameless and such a coward.
he reaches the gym plugged in his earphones, and listened to a song called 'Epiphany by BTS' a song reccomended minghao since he knew what mingyu was going through. he didn't want to cry anymore since there were students who might still see him. and because even though he wanted to cry so hard, his tears couldnt bring what was before, he can't be ever happy like that again, he couldn't tell jokes to his classmates, share his talents to his friends, and mostly, he couldn't bring wonwoo back. because he's a coward, a fool, an idiot who stupidly fell in love with his best friend.
