Sundays
A day where most people relax. It's a lazy day. But for me, it's stressful.
I would be changing homes and going to my dad's house. When mom and dad got divorced, they decided on switching me between homes each week. I would be at one house for a week and then move to the other house for a week. I don't know if I'm used to this yet. It's only been a couple of months of me doing this. I hate not having both parents in the same house.
I was up at 8:30am. I was getting my stuff together to go over to my dad's house. I already had clothes there so I only brought my phone and school stuff back and forth. I do online school which is helpful to me. Public school was too stressful and my parents both agreed that online would work for me.
"I'm going to be busy this week so I might not be able to talk a lot this week." Mom said.
I nodded. "Ok."
After I ate breakfast and cleaned my room a little bit, it was time to go. Mom was quiet on the ride over and the only noise was the radio playing quietly. When we got there mom gave me a hug and kissed me goodbye.
"Have a good week Sam. Love you."
"Love you too."
I headed to the front door and unlocked it, being greeted with Duke barking. My dad lives with his best friend Calum who is basically my Uncle.
"Hi Duke." I kneeled down and pet Duke.
My dad came out from the kitchen and smiled.
"Hey Sammie. How are you honey?" He asks.
"I'm good."
Dad came over and pulled me into a hug. He kissed my forehead before being interrupted by Calum.
"Hey, don't I get to see my favorite niece." Calum says.
I laugh. "I'm your only niece."
He laughs too and pulls me into a hug as well.
Dad knows that going back and forth between houses is stressful so normally we watch movies and eat ice cream on Sundays. I don't mind though.
I bring my stuff up to my bedroom and then decide to work on some English work. I'm always working on school. Dad says that will be helpful when I get into medical school.
Dad works as a Pediatric doctor at the local hospital and Calum works as a Pediatric surgeon. I spend a lot of time there due to dad working and not liking to leave me home alone. I'm 15 but dad doesn't like leaving me alone. He's kind of protective which I respect.
"Sammie, let's watch a movie." Calum says, coming into my room with Duke following him.
I nodded and stood up, following him downstairs into the living room. I cuddle up on the couch with dad and he covered us with a blanket. Calum turned on some old Disney movies and we all sat there watching for hours.
Soon, we all get hungry and decide it's time to start dinner. I follow them into the kitchen and sat down at the table.
"Sam, have you taken your medicine today?" Dad asks.
Shoot, I forgot. I shake my head.
"Can you go take it please."
I nod.
My parents decided to have me start seeing a psychiatrist after I started to have really bad anxiety and depression when my parents got divorced. Luke. He's another one of my "Uncle's". Dad and mom picked him since they knew I trusted him. He put me a meds to also help with my anxiety and depression.
After taking my meds, I head back to the kitchen with my notebook and decide to write while I wait for dinner to be ready. Writing is something that also helps. I like to be able to write down anything and not be judged. Its how I get my feelings out when I don't feel like talking.
"Dinner Sam." Dad says.
I take my notebook back to my room and then head back to the kitchen table.
"Did you do anything exciting this week?" Dad asks.
"No it was pretty boring."
We eat and make small talk until we're all done.
"I'll clean up Ash." Calum says to my dad.
Dad nods and both him and I sit on the couch. Dad watches the news while I scroll on my phone liking photos of my friends on Instagram. After a little while, we all decide we want ice cream. Dad pulls my favorite flavor out of the freezer. Mint chocolate chip.
We watch some more tv while we eat our ice cream. At 9, dad tells me it's time for bed. I have to be up at 6:30 to go to work with him. I take a quick shower and change into a oversized shirt and shorts. I braid my hair and then lay in bed. Dad comes in to say goodnight.
"Love you Sammie. Sleep good."
"Night dad. Love you."
"Love you too."
He kisses me on the forehead and then turns my lights off. As soon as my head hits the pillow, I'm out.
