Brock's POV
**Next Week**I stood out in front of my house, waiting for Cass. It was a quarter till six, but she had said she was just now turning onto Palisades Lane. As I took my phone and looked for any new messages from Steph or Paul. I put my phone away when I hear a diesel truck pulling into the driveway. I smirk when I saw her driving her diesel rather than her normal Hemi engine. "How are you doing, darlin'?" I ask her as she steps out of her truck. She smiles before she goes to the backseat, grabbing her gun case and two bags. "What's with the two bags?"
"Well one is full of my regular, everyday items. The other bag is full of ammo, my gun cleaning gear, hunting gear, and hunting clothes."
"God I love you."
"Well God I love you too. How were the kids?"
"They're good as always. Here let me get this for you," I comment as I took her gun case and her bag of regular, everyday things. I throw them in the backseat of my truck and she came up behind me with the bag of her hunting things. I heard of barking and howling from her truck. I look and see three dogs in there. "Um I didn't know you were going to bring a couple of your dogs. Who's watching your other dog?"
"My fifteen-year-old sister is watching my four and those are the two new dogs I got, that I told you about yesterday. Hence why I wasn't able to come over and stay with you, like we were talking about."
"Oh okay. Yeah I forgot about those three," I chuckle, shyly, as I move things off of the backseat so they had a place to sit. Cass walked over to her truck.
"Are they friendly?" I ask as I walk over to her truck. Out came three dogs. One looked like a wolf, but one was easily noticeable as a Black and Tan Coonhound, and the final one was massive. I let out a small chuckle and saw her look at me weird.
"Oh yeah they're friendly. Bear is the Norwegian Elkhound and Bow is the Black and Tan Coonhound. Ragnar here is a Caucasian Shepherd. He's the one who we might have to watch."
"They are beautiful dogs, beautiful. I've never seen a Norwegian Elkhound or a Caucasian Shepherd before. Hey could we bring Ace? I just got him back from having him trained to hunt as well."
"Sure thing. Both of these dogs are dog-friendly."
"Okay well I just need to finish getting a few more things put into my truck."
"Alright," she followed me into the house and the dogs were able to meet and they started to play with each other. I got my things together and was able to head outside when the news reporter said that South Dakota Highway 212 was closed due to the snowstorm rolling in. I sighed and still stepped outside. I put my things in the truck and went back inside. "So I take it we're not heading out today?" Cass questioned me as I took off my snow boots."
"Yeah evidently, but let me see if there are any other closures near the area," I answer as I step into my office. I got onto my computer and looked for any closures, but due to the snowstorm there's a bunch of closures, but SD highway 20 was still open and so was County Road two was also still open. "Hey Cass come here," she comes in and I pull her to sit on my right knee. "So it looks that 20 and county road two is still open, and so is 212 as soon as you turn onto it and head into Clark. So we could still make it, but that's only if you want to... Or we could stay here for the day and see if 212 opens tomorrow."
"We can go that way if you want. I don't mine with whatever we do."
"Well hunting season doesn't start until Wednesday anyway. We can leave tomorrow and still have time to rest up for the first day. What do you have for a tag or tags?"
