Cassie's POV

I woke up from the sun coming into the room. I sat up and saw that Brock was already up. I take a second to look at the clock and saw it was eleven-thirty. I heard either the front or back door close and shut. Soon as the door closed Bow and Bear came onto the bed and started to lick my face. Ragnar came in with Brock right behind him. "Hey sleepyhead how are you feeling?"

"Um tired. Why didn't you wake me earlier?"

"You were needing the sleep, Sherlock. Plus, we don't have to leave until maybe three. We have to check into our cabin by no later than four, and it snowed at least two feet. And it's supposed to snow more tonight and into tomorrow evening," he smiled as he took off his coat and went to the kitchen. I got up and started to walk out to the main section of the house. Brock walked over to the fridge and took out some food.

"Where were you hiding that, huh?"

"I have a small hidden area in the fridge. That's where I hide things that I don't want the kids to get to... Speaking of kids, when am I going to meet your younger siblings? I mean I've already had you meet my kids, so it's only fair," he smiled.

"I'll have you come out to my ranch next time we're both off."

"Okay sounds good to me," he winked. "So what all are you needing to get together for the trip?"

"Um nothing really. Just have to repack my bag and I'll be ready."

"Okay." For the rest of the day, it was pretty boring. About two-thirty rolls around and we started to pack up the truck. The last thing we needed to get loaded was the dogs. Brock got in, after I got in, and he pulled out of the driveway. He stopped at Walmart and got out. "What are you wanting to eat and drink while we're there?" he asked as he grabbed a basket.

"Um I'm good with just about anything," I answered as we started to shop. We got what we needed and got back to the truck. He pulled onto 212 and started to head towards Clark. When we got to the lodge, he went into check-in and then drove us to our cabin.

"So the front desk lady said that they just saw a huge herd of elk and that there's plenty of cows and bulls in that herd. And then there's a small herd of deer just inside the ridgeline," he paused as he pointed towards the ridgeline just up from the cabin. He parked and turned off the truck. "My brother Chad will be joining us if that's okay, but he won't stay for the full two weeks. He'll only stay for a week, that's all he could take off from work, and he'll be staying in his own cabin with his wife and son. The front desk lady also said that there's been plenty of mountain lion sightings just within the last week," he said as he got out and grabbed two of the dogs' leashes. I got out and grabbed the last two. We got inside and saw that it wasn't the biggest cabin, but enough space for the two of us and the dogs.

I stepped outside and grabbed my bags, my gun case, Brock's bags, and his gun case. I got inside and he immediately grabbed his bags and gun case. "Cass you shouldn't have grabbed all of the bags at once, beautiful. I was going to get my bags, but thank you," he commented as he took my bags next. "So Chad just texted me. He wants to know if you would be willing to meet up at the sports bar here in town? If not that's fine."

"I would love to. Hey have I told you that the facial hair fits you well?"

"Not today, or yesterday, but thank you beautiful. I'm happy that you like it. I'll message them here in a moment. Let's get unpacked and get ready for tonight," he grabbed our bags and led the way to the bedroom. We put our things away and fed the dogs. I got changed into a nice button-up shirt and jeans. Brock put on a black t-shirt, with a red flannel overshirt and jeans. "Ready beautiful?"
