I woke up to the feeling of something wet on my toes. I slowly looked over and saw that my head was on Callum's chest, which had no shirt on it. I gulped and checked the time. It was 4:00 in the morning. It was still dark as I realized that the tide was rising and soon it would be over our head. I jumped up and started to pull on my clothes. My parents have probably called the police by now. Callum yawned.
"Callum," I scream-whispered. "We fell asleep! Wake up and get dressed!"
His eyes grew wide. "Shit! Sophie!" He jumped up and pulled on his shirt and shoes. "Fuck." He mumbled.
"Who's Sophie?" I asked as I frantically pulled on my converse.
"My little sister." He mumbled. He ran over to Jasper and shook him awake.
I froze. I had no time to think about Callum's little sister. Amity wasn't with Jasper. Callum's eyes locked with mine as he helped his friend get up. He nodded, knowing what I was thinking.
"I'll help you!" He shouted across the beach.
I started running along the shore, screaming her name. After about 5 minutes I felt Callum grab my hand. I didn't pull away. I was to scared.
Suddenly I heard a moan. We ran over to the tall grass and found Amity laying down. I looked at Callum and he nodded knowingly, walking away.
I leaned down. "Amity what happened."
"I went to go pee and I fell asleep." She said.
I started laughing hysterically. I didn't know if it was because it was funny or if it was because I had been scared out of my god damn mind.
"It's not funny," she whined, hitting my arm.
"I know," I put my arms up. "I thought you were kidnapped."
I grabbed her hand and helped her up. We started running towards Callum and Jasper.
"Everyone in their cars! My parents are going to kill me!" I shouted. We all ran separate ways and as I was about to get in the drivers seat of Amity's jeep, I felt a hand on my arm.
I turned to see Callum standing there, a grin on his face. He leaned in to kiss me but I put a finger up to his lips. They were so soft I honestly could have drooled. I half smiled and got into the car.
"Goodbye Callum," I said through my open window.
"See you at school, Brookey." He winked and ran to his car.

When I dropped Amity off at her house, along with her car, I realized I had to walk home. Here's the thing: I'm terrified of the walking alone. I always feel like someone is watching me (not quoting the song intentionally). I started my 10 minute journey. I was wishing my dog was with me right about now. Suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder. I yelped and turned around, ready to throw a punch.
"Callum?! You douche bag! What the hell!" I yelled.
He walked closer to me, putting is finger up to my lips to shush me. He made me tingle all the way down to my toes.
"Shhh... You're going to wake up the whole street." He said.
I slowly pushed away his hand. "Callum why are you following me?"
He smirked. "Because I like you." He stepped even closer. "And you looked scared out of your mind."
"Thanks... But I.... Um I think I can take care of my self."
He started walking backwards in front of me. "Sure you can." He nodded.
I followed him. "Seriously, my house is like 3 minutes away."
"Liar," he scolded. "Remember I live down the street from you."
He turned and walked beside me. "So, I know I'm going to get you to like me. I know I have been coming on strong but I think that's just my personality." He winked.
"Cool." I responded, I was looking down the street at a light that looked like it was from a cop car.
Callum cleared his throat. "Everything ok, Brooke?"
I pointed to the light and he squinted. "Well that's not good." He said.
"Yeah no kidding." I said.
I started jogging. I realized the car was parked in my drive way. As I started to full out sprint, Callum grabbed my waist.
"Callum I don't have time for this!" I said trying to pry his fingers off of me. He spun my around and held me close to him.
He tucked my hair behind my back ear. I was to panicked to realize what was happening. "I've been wanting to do this since I saw you walk in the class room."
He leaned in to kiss me and just as our lips were about to touch, I heard my name being called. I stumbled back and just about fell over before Callum caught me.
"Callum I..." I started backing away from him. He was about to kiss me.
"Brooke! What the hell are you doing young lady?!" My dad stormed down the sidewalk. He must have seen Callum try to kiss me.
"Dad..." I began. "Just let me explain." I put up my hands.
"Not right now! Get in the house this instance!" He pushed me along and I turned around, seeing Callum walking away from me and my dignity.
****************
When I got into my house I felt someone wrap their arms around me. I smelled raspberries and saw wisps of blond hair.
"Mom?" I mumbled, my voice muffled in her shoulder.
She pulled away and stroked my face with her cheek. "Oh Brooke. Where were you? I thought you had been kidnapped!"
I held back a laugh, remembering Amity on the beach.
"I was um..."
"She was with a boy." My dad barged in, crossing his arms.
"You were?! Honey that's great!" She said.
"No mom it's not like that." I insisted. It really wasn't, although he wanted it to be and so did I.
"He was kissing you!" Said dad.
"No, he was trying to kiss me!" I threw up my arms and started to walk up the stairs. "Come on Ace." I commanded.
"Drew I don't understand why it's a big deal." My mom turned to my dad.
"Because she lied! She said she was with Amity!"
"I was!" I shouted. "Ugh!"
I ran into my bedroom and closed the door.
I had never seen my parents so mad at me. But that would soon change.
"Live fast die young, bad boys do it well." I said to Ace.
