America grumbled. His father refused to let him walk to school and back anymore. His brothers were happier about it though.
"Have a good day! Take care!" Britain said as America, Australia and New Zealand opened the car door.
"Love you too Dad. Bye." America waved. Australia just waved and ran off to join his friends, Taiwan, Spain and Iceland.
Kiwi made her way to the choir room. America was looking for at least one of his friends after not seeing them for a week.
He found Philip in the classroom on his phone. America decided to scare him.
"Phil!"
The said country yelped and slapped the American so hard he was sent flying into the next table, his lower back hit the edge and he was crumpled into a groaning mess on the floor.
"Oh my god! Ame! I'm so sorry!" Phil got out of his seat crouching beside America. The few other students laughing a little.
"God. You hit hard. Remind me not to do that again." America sighed as he slowly recovered.
"Yes, yes. Sorry, do you want to go to the washroom to alleviate the mark?"
"That would be nice-"
"Alright let's go." Philip barely waited for America's answer before dragging him quickly to the bathroom.
"Wha- Phil! What's going on?" America yelped out as Philip dragged him into the bathroom, using a broom to secure the handle of the door.
"You faint in the bathroom, disappear for a week, then come back smelling very different. What is going on?" Phil asked suspiciously.
America started sweating nervously.
"I'm fine Phil. Really. Just something I'd like to keep to myself for the time being. I'm not ready to tell anyone yet." America sighed.
"Fine. But you better tell me sometime soon." Philip glared before returning back to his cheerful self, "Let's go back to class then, the rest miss you a lot."
America shivered at how fast the sunshine country changed moods. He made a mental note to never get on his bad side as he followed Philip back to the classroom where South and Russia were talking.
South jumped happily at the sight of the American.
"America! You're back! Holy heck I missed you, bro!" South leapt out of his seat as he embraced the American in a tight hug.
"I missed you too bro." America smiled as South let him go and they did their handshake.
America spent the first half of the day being engulfed in hugs and questions as to where he went off to. He just said he wasn't feeling too good.
"God that was exhausting." America sighed as he slung his bag over his shoulder.
"Class or the questions?" Philip asked.
"Everything. I'm tired." America yawned proving his point.
"Well, I've got to get to hockey practice." Germany groaned as he put away his books.
"Wait doesn't that start in an hour?" America looked up furrowing his eyebrows.
"I go early, just do some work before practice," Germany explained.
"You are one hardworking man, Germs."
"Thanks."
There was some loud clattering as two countries crashed through the rather empty classroom door. It was Russia and Finland. Each of them had their bags and hockey sticks, and Germany's too.
"Hey, germs! We got your stuff." Russia grinned and greeted America and Phil.
"Wait. Didn't I put it in my locker?"
"We uh. Picked it." Russia laughed nervously.
"What!?" Germany cried out shocked.
"And yes we saw your collection of mangas." Finland snickered.
America burst out laughing. Germany glared at him and Philip as Philip felt a smile creep up his lips.
"I didn't think you read manga! Germs! Reading Japanese manga! What type of manga was it??" America turned to Russia and Finland for an answer.
Russia opened his mouth, "Don't you dare you Arschloch." Germany hissed
"It was an office romance type of storyline," Finland answered.
America was laughing hysterically now. Even Philip was struggling not to.
"you Scheißkerl! Come back here!" Germany growled as Finland ran out. He chased after the nordic country.
"Well, I better go. See ya around Meri." Russia waved as he grabbed his equipment and headed out.
"Well, I'm gonna go and find Japan and Nekomi, have fun at home." America sighed as he got up.
"Okay, bye Ame!" Philip waved.
"Bye Phil!" America returned the gesture before heading to the media club room to see which japan twin would be there if they were even there at all.
He stopped by the cafeteria to grab a grilled chicken and egg sandwich and a chocolate milk carton. Once he had his food, he made a beeline for the media club room.
No one was there yet. He found the whiteboard, searching for his name and marking under it that he had come.
Media club was a pretty chill and cool club. They managed the school's newspaper, technical things and helped organize big events. That meant members got to enter special events, roam around school freely. Plus you didn't have to come every single day, at least twice a week.
America found his own mini workspace. He dropped his bag under the desk and unwrapped his lunch. He slumped into his chair and wheeled himself across the room to the cabinet with all the Cameras, picking out his usual favoured one and some lenses. He placed them in a bag and set it in his lap, pushing his chair back to his workspace and powering on the provided computer.
He looked through the incomplete monthly newspaper, searching for what he should do. He found a few pages about after-school activities interviews. There was one about hockey. Russi was in Hockey. Germany was too. He opened the files regarding the interview questions and took it down on a notepad. He marked the project under his name.
He slipped the notepad and a pen into his camera bag, slinging it over his head, grabbing his sandwich and carton.
He got out of the media club room and made his way to the ice-rink on campus. He was surprised to see a large number of freshman in the rink. They seemed to be trying out.
He thought about his club's tryouts, he had probably missed it during his one week of absence.
He wasn't much taller than most of the bulky Freshman and struggled to get out of the crowd. He didn't succeed but ended up in a queue. He just followed, finding no way to get out of it.
That was when he locked eyes with a familiar country on the ice. The country seemed to recognize him and skated over.
"Meri? What're you doing here?"
