Author's POV

It's school all over again and the semester is coming to an end which means finals. Unlike every other student, Beca spent her night at the bar instead of studying. She saw a girl across the bar, eyes begging for help as some guys were harassing her. "Leave the girl alone", she said before taking another sip of her drink. "You either leave the girl alone or I'll get you kicked out from here", she warned them. The boys laughed it off and proceeded to talk to the girl. "That's it", she stood up. "Well, someone wants a piece of us", one of the guys smirked and punched her bad. Before she could fight back, Luke pulled her away and the bartender escorted them out. "I could take them", Beca said. "I know, but you have school tomorrow and Chloe's gonna kill me if you get hurt, here", he gave her a pack of ice. "Thank you, for, you know, standing up for me", the girl walked towards Beca. "It's no problem", she replied and winches in pain when the ice pack came in contact with the bruise. "Let me help you with that", she moved closer and took the ice pack, slowly patting it. "I'm Izzie", she introduced herself. "Beca", the brunette replied. The two started chatting and found out that both of them are not supposed to be there. "My fake ID's better than yours tho", Izzie chuckled. "Yeah well, the owner and I go way back so", Beca said. "I should get going, I'll see you around, Izzie", Beca said her goodbyes and left.

NEXT DAY.

Beca walked into her homeroom to see Chloe alone sitting at her table. "Good morning, beautiful", Beca said as she placed her bag down. "Where were you? I called you last night and you didn't pick up and- What happened?!", she quickly stood up when she saw the bruise on her girlfriend's face. "I was at the bar and my phone died, sorry", Beca replied. "Are you okay? Who did this?", Chloe asked as she softly let her thumb run over the bruise. "Some douchebag. I'm fine now", she wrapped her hands around the redhead's waist and softly kiss her. "Where is everyone?", she asked, looking around at the empty room when her girlfriend took a seat. "Some famous influencer came for a talk and they're at the cafeteria, taking pictures", Chloe said. "Mm, I don't know about you, but all I hear is that we're alone", Beca smirked. "I need to set up papers for your finals", she said. Beca walked to her and slowly massage her shoulders. "You're too tense, Ms. Beale", Beca chuckled out when her girlfriend let out a soft sigh. She bent down to place small kisses on the redhead's neck when the door suddenly opens. "Yeah, so that one would have the answer C. You're right", Beca quickly pointed at her laptop. "Right, thanks Beca", Chloe went along with the lie. "No prob, Ms. B", Beca smiled and they both looked over to see who opened the door. "Lance! Yes, can I help you?", Chloe asked. "The talk is starting that means you too Beca", Lance looked at the brunette and she faked a smile. "Ma'am yes ma'am", she said and waited until she left. "Wanna bail on it?", she smirked and continued to kiss her girlfriend. "Mm no. Come on", Chloe took her hand and pulled her out. "You're lucky I love you", Beca said.

They both went to the hall and took a seat that Emily saved for them. "Thank you", Chloe said to Emily. "Why are we here again?", Beca asked. "Some influencer shits. Heard she's hot tho", Stacie said. "I'm calling Aubrey", Chloe joked. "I'm kidding", Stacie said to Chloe and reached out to fist bump Beca behind Emily's chair. "Please welcome, Ms. Izzie!", the announcer said and you could hear girls screaming and boys swooning. But Beca, she knew that name. It's familiar. It's impossible, she thought to herself. She lifted her head a little to see the girl and her eyes locked with... Izzie. "No way", Beca muttered under her breath. "What", Emily looked at her. "I went to the bar last night, she was there and I kinda saved her from being harassed", Beca told her. "Damn", was all Emily replied.

"Hello! Thank you so much for having me. Uhm, I wanna start by telling you guys something I experienced last night that made me believe in humanity again. So, I was at the... jazz lounge, and I was seating alone, just enjoying the music when a bunch of guys came up and sat in front of me", she said and the crowd was boo-ing. "They started being- well boys and harassed me. Saying things like, 'come on a dress like that? you want me to take you home', and I kept quiet. I don't know why, but I kept quiet. Until, this girl, she was just across of me, she told the boys to leave. She warned them and she took a hit for me. So, I would never stop thanking that girl for standing up for me", she looked at Beca and smiled. She went on and started talking about catcalling, harassment, and motivated the students.

"Thank you for that, and now, we'll have our seniors, Beca Mitchell and Emily Junk to address their announcement", Mr. Adam called out. "Alright, boys and girls, the semester's coming to an end and as always we have our end-of-semester event", Emily said. "And for this semester, we are going with... Can I get a little drum roll?", Beca asked and all the students stomped their feet. "Masquerade ball!", both of them announced and the students cheered. "We'll be having a dark, mysterious ball and you can come in a pair, in a group or alone! More information will be on the poster on the notice board. For further information, you can come to see me, Emily or Stacie. Thank you", Beca said and took her seat.

"Is this seat taken?", Izzie asked when she approached Beca's group. "No not at all, go ahead", Emily said, smiling. "I am such a huge fan of your work", she let out to Izzie. "Like your project to stop animal cruelty and the-", Beca cleared her throat. "Huge fan", Emily smiled. "So, influencer? Yet you still need a fake ID", Beca joked and they both chuckled. "Well, I'm not 21 yet so", she replied. "Fair enough", Beca said. "Yeesh, I'm sorry for the bruise", Izzie pouted when she saw it got worse.

"Hey, do you know the-", Chloe came with her food.

"Hi, Ms. Beale! This is Izzie, the girl that gave the talk just now?", Emily said quickly to avoid Chloe saying stuff. "Oh hey, a great speech by the way", she complimented Izzie. "I'm Miss Beale, a Chemistry teacher", she introduced herself and took a bite off her food. "So Emily told me all about your work. It is so great, what you're doing for the society", she added when Beca just casually grab her plate and took the vegetables off the redhead's plate before giving it back to her. "Thank you", Izzie smiled and turned her body to Beca. "Does it still hurt?", she asked with a worried look and gently touch it. The whole group watched Chloe in silence as Izzie got touchy with her girl. "An eyebrow slit? Hot", she smirked before biting her lips. Beca could tell Chloe's eyes were burning at them so she cleared her throats and went back on eating peacefully. "So, Masquerade Ball. You coming, Miss Beale?", Beca asked. "No one has asked me yet so", she smiled. "You could bring me. I was wondering we can hang out sometime? After what you did for me last night?", Izzie suggested and placed her hand on Beca's and she quickly pulled away. "What happened last night?", Chloe asked. "Oh! Beca was the girl who helped me at the uh- lounge last night. She was a real badass but it gave her this bruise", she pouted. Chloe's heart raced so fast. "Oh, that's where you get your bruise from. I heard you told your girlfriend it was from a douche. Never thought it was for a girl", she raised her eyebrows and took a sip of her drink. "You have a girlfriend?", Izzie asked. "She doesn't know?", Chloe asked. "Well, I mean if she doesn't come up, I'm sure she's not that important, is she?", Izzie's hand roamed on the brunette's arm. "Girl's speaking the truths. I have to go mark some papers", Chloe stood up and walked away. "She is important, okay? So, please just respect my relationship. Have a good day", Beca ran after Chloe.

"Chlo-bear, I know you're there", Beca said out as she entered the locker room. "I don't wanna talk to you right now", Chloe said, firmly. "Baby, look, you know me. I can't just let guys treat girls like that", Beca explained. "I don't mind that. But you let her touch you and you didn't even mention that you're in a relationship until I brought it up", Chloe replied angrily. "I'm sorry", Beca sat down next to her. "Come on, she's nothing compared to you, babe", she added. "Just- I need to be alone", Chloe stood up and walked to the door. "Chloe, come on", Beca sighed out.

"So?", Emily asked when they sat at the bench. "She's really mad so I'm just gonna give her some space", Beca replied.
