"Summi, stay hidden." Oliver Agreste-Destine carefully closed his pouch. It was always connected to the pocket of his sweater, which he took everywhere. His kwami, Summi, though, didn't make it any easier to keep his identity hidden.
"Come on!" Summi whined. "It's been one generation after the next, and I still haven't gotten to do anything wild!" She was constantly restless. Oliver ignored her, and adjusted his necklace. The necklace had been passed down from firstborn child to firstborn child, and was a bright blue jewel outlined with solid gold. Engraved on the jewel was his family name :Destine.
As in, Destiny.
He almost bumped into his sister, January. "Sorry, Oliver." She apologized. "I have to get to ballet class." Oliver watched her leave. His parents, Gabriella and Thomas, stood by the doorway, helping his younger brother, twins, Barnaby and Bartleby, with their backpacks. The twins had science club. Oliver sighed.
Four kids, and of all of them, the only thing special about him was his necklace.
"Son," Thomas smiled at Oliver. "my brother-in-law has requested service of you." Oliver's eyes widened.
The Great Gabriel Agreste.
"he wishes you to babysit his friend's daughter." Oliver's shoulders slumped. But who ws he to say no?
'Dupain-Cheng Bakery.' He stopped to make sure he had the right address, before heading in. A couple, a very large man with brown hair, and a petite woman with dark hair, were bustling about. It looked like they were catering some large event. Oliver watched for a moment, moving out of the way to allow the man to rush past him with some boxes. The woman stopped, and thanked him for coming.
"She's upstairs, and there are some tips for you on the fridge. We'll be back around supper, and we'll call you if it runs late." Oliver barely had time to nod before they took off.
'Must've been running late,' he mused, heading for the stairs. As he got closer, the sounds of a little girl playing caught his ear. The only sound he heard from his sister was the sound of practicing.
"Come on." Summi whined. "You think sitting a disabled kid will be fun?" Oliver shoved Summi back into his pouch. "Don't be like that!"
Opening the door, he was met with the most adorable girl he'd ever seen. she wore a yellow sundress, and had blue hair in pigtails. Oliver suddenly reached up to touch his bright red hair.
She had the biggest bluebell eyes, and a button nose. she looked up at him, and smiled.
Otherwise, she looked like a fairly normal little girl. Aside from the fact that she was a teenager.
Keeping his thoughts to himself, he approached her, and introduced himself. "Hi,Marinette. I'm Oliver."
"...Oliver." The boy chuckled. "That's right." she was smart, just like her parents said.
Marinette was curious. she asked lots of questions. It went by smoothly, until something happened at lunch.
Oliver had made her a sandwich, and was just sitting down to eat his, when her phone rang. She looked at the text someone sent her, before putting her phone down, pushing it away, and staring at her sandwich, seeming to have lost her appetite. Oliver frowned, and checked the text.
Alya: Girl, you disgust me. I hope you're happy you're actions got you into a madhouse. Disabled. Hmph!
He quickly checked through the others, noticing she had a lot more like this. The majority were from a girl named...Lila.
He'd heard of that girl from his cousin. The Liar.
He turned back to Marinette, who seemed to be really sad. "Hey, are you okay?" He asked. Without answering, she ran to her room.
