Mr. Damocles was, admittedly, a very good sport about the whole thing. He listened to everyone, and hardly interrupted. At the end, when he'd heard everything, his mouth was dry. He couldn't think of an answer. Then, he finally thought of something to say.
"Are you sure?" Chloe rolled her eyes. "Of course, we're sure! You SHOULD have listened to Marinette! She designs for Jagged Stone, so she knows he never had a cat. And, she saw Ladybug talking to Lila, so she knows they're not friends."
"But...her leg!" Adrien sighed. "Mr. Damocles, with all due respect, you're not being a very smart principal. There are security cameras for a reason." Mr. Damocles turned to Officer Raincomprix. The sergeant nodded solemnly. Mr. Damocles accessed the cameras. The others waited patiently while he watched.
Mr. Damocles had to say: all this proof was valid. They had everything against Lila. Lila had never been hurt by Marinette.
Meaning he'd basically unfairly expelled the poor girl. Twice.
"But...how did?!" Gabriel put a hand on his shoulder. "In a state of shock, one would take deep breathes." Adrien watched in wonder as his father calmed Mr. Damocles down. The principal turned to the officer and Mrs. Bustier. "What do you think?"
"I...I'm not sure." Mrs. Bustier admitted. "Not only has she been taking advantage of us, she's been bullying another student, right under our noses!"
"And stealing." Raincomprix added. "I'd suggest filing a charge against her." Gabriel piped up. "Nathalie and I have something you should see." Nathalie stepped forward, proud of Gabriel for his choice. On her tablet, she showed a list of schools Lila had been to over the years. "This has happened before." She stated solemnly. "Does the name, 'Beatrix Belle,' sound familiar?"
Adrien wrung his hands nervously, and looked at his father. Gabriel gave an encouraging nod, so he and Nino stepped forward. "We have an idea." He stated simply.
"Not now, Adrien." Mr. Damocles cut him off. "We have to decide what to do with Lila."
"Exactly." Nino chimed in. "We know what to do! This is the biggest punishment we could think of." The boys went on to explain the plan, making sure to include Clarice and Marinette's tributes, and Oliver's. The teachers listened carefully. In the end, they decided the kids would have to be punished, but not too much, for humiliating a fellow student.
Lila sat in her room, tweaking the files she got from Pine's online. Soon, Marinette would have no where to go. She made sure there were plenty of letters for Marinette's parents, and even sent some to her new teachers. If they knew what trouble Marinette got into at Francois DuPont high school, they'd HAVE to kick her out!
Lila printed them out, and got to work on a letter for Gabriel about her plan, when she received an Email from school.
'Congratulations, Lila!
You have been voted for the award of 'best student and friend,' at Francois DuPont! We'll have a celebration in the auditorium, with all your classmates and teachers! Your parents are invited to watch as you receive your award.
March 26, 2:00, PM.
Principal Damocles.'
Lila grinned. This was all too perfect. She would be moving away to who-knows-where soon anyway, so she might as well.
Oh, the moving. The first time, she had keened over and wailed, leaving her best friend behind. Now, she found ways to make moving fun!
Shaking off those thoughts, Lila gathered the papers, deciding they could wait. She received a text from Alya, and she could practically feel the excitement.
