Hope Jone's POV
Today I looked at my calendar for the first time in weeks. Not that I don't usually take a glimpse at it here and there but today I had a reason to. Today is the day I'm leaving Storybrooke. Just thinking about leaving made me shake. This place is my home and more importantly it's where my family is. I would miss them, but this was the only way to make things right again, for myself.
"Wake up! When are you planning on getting up?" my mom, Emma asked as she opened my room door. Why was my mom yelling? It's not like it was time for me to go already. I jumped out of bed and checked my phone for the time. "Oh man, I didn't realize I woke up so late, I only have one hour to get ready!" I said. I went downstairs to eat breakfast before I got dressed.
I could already smell the biscuits my father, Hook made downstairs. He was a surprisingly good cook for a pirate especially since he only has one hand! He was surprisingly good at a lot of things. It's unfortunate how this will be the last breakfast I have with my parents for a while. "Good morning luv, want some biscuits?" my dad asked. "Of course!" I said happily as I snatched the biscuit from his hand. On a regular day I would eat breakfast while watching Disney or Nickelodeon in the living room but I don't have time for that today, I had to get ready.
I made my way to my room and started getting dressed. I threw on some light makeup that made my blue eyes pop out and I put on a white flowing summer dress with a pair of sandals. I opened up my messy bun to reveal my long blonde wavy hair. Now it was time for a quick coffee run to Granny's Diner, the heart of Storybrooke.
________________________________As I walked through the small town of Storybrooke, I saw the same people I saw everyday. Marco and August at their repair workshop, Archie walking his dog, Pongo, Cinderella and her prince going on a daily stroll, and finally the seven dwarfs carrying their axes on their way to the mines. Storybrooke is quaint. Everyone knows who everyone else is and we all get along with each other. We're like one big happy family. What would it be like to not see these people everyday? To wake up everyday in a place that's not your own bedroom? I didn't want to imagine what that would be like. I could feel myself missing this place already and I didn't even leave yet.
As I made my way inside the diner I was greeted with a big smile from Granny. "Good morning dear! Let me guess, you want the frozen caramel coffee with whip cream?" Granny asked. "You got it!" I told her. I come here almost everyday so it was no surprise that she memorized my order. This will also be my last time seeing Granny and getting this coffee. "Hope! You're coffee is ready!" Granny said as she put the drink on the table. I grabbed my coffee and was heading out the door. "Hey Hope!" Granny yelled. I turned around to see her with a sad smile on her face. "I'm going to miss seeing you everyday." I smiled at her with the sudden urge to cry. "Me too." I walked out of the diner without looking back because it would make me feel worse if I did.
________________________________When I got home, my parents were already loading up the car with all my belongings. "That's the last of it!" my dad said as he put my last suitcase in the trunk of the car. I had almost 10 suitcases and they still managed to fit it all into my mom's yellow bug. "I'm going to miss you, sweetheart!" My dad said as he pulled me into a hug. "Okay, Dad you can let go now!" I said as I pulled away from his grip. He gave me a kiss on my forehead and then went into the drivers seat of the car.
"Oh Hope, please don't leave me with your dad, I'm going to go crazy!", my mom laughed. "No but seriously I going to miss the hell out of you!" my mom gave me a hug. She already had tears on her face. Then my mom looked down her smile now gone. "Where is it?", she asked. "Your necklace!" I looked down and realized it wasn't around my neck. I couldn't leave without it. That necklace was more important than anyone realized.
I went back into my room and looked on my dresser and shelves then I saw it on the floor next to my bed. "Don't worry Mom, I found it!" The only reason my mom was more concerned about the necklace than my dad was because she understood what it was used for.
My mom has powers and I inherited my powers from her. Back then my own family would be afraid of her because she didn't know how to control her magic. But obviously things changed since then. She learned to embrace who she truly was and her magic along with it. For me, however, it has been really hard to control my powers and the necklace is the only thing that helps me. That's why I'm leaving Storybrooke in the first place, so I can go to a school for kids just like me, who also can't control their powers. A place where I truly belong.
I went down to my car and took one last look at my house. There was a time where no one could physically leave Storybrooke but now there was an open road ahead of me. A new place. A new life.
A new beginning.
