Hope Mikaelson's POV

It's hard being the only person in school that's different. Of course here in the Salvatore School everyone is unique in their own way and feel like they belong and yet I don't feel the same way.

Everyone here has their own flaws and imperfections. Everyone here has lost something whether it was a loved one or something that was precious to them. That's what makes us all connected. We have all faced the same hardships sometime in our life.

For example, if you're a vampire, you might have lost control of yourself and killed an innocent person.

If you're a werewolf, you have to go through the same suffering every full moon. That feeling of all the bones breaking in your body and no one to even stay to help you because you're afraid you might hurt them.

If you're a witch, you can be very powerful and feel alone at the same time. Your magic is unpredictable and before you know it, your whole entire family can die at your hand.

I have unfortunately experienced all three of these hardships because I am all three, a vampire, witch, and a werewolf.

I am the only tribrid in my school which is why I feel so left out. Everyone else has only one of the supernatural powers. I am also responsible for my parents death.

Everyday I cry myself to sleep knowing that it's my fault their dead despite what anyone else tries to tell me.

My parents died last year when I was 15. I didn't even know my father most of my life, but when I did get to meet him, it was some of the best moments of my life. Both of my parents sacrificed their lives to save me but that's a whole other story.

I walked out of my bed and got ready for first period. As I walked down the hallways everyone had someone to talk to and everyone had their own groups. Of course I was there walking alone like usual. I shouldn't be complaining though it's my fault I have no friends and I have a good reason for it.

Whenever I become close with someone bad things tend to happen to them and I eventually pull away from them. I don't do it because I hate people, I do it to protect them.

"Hey, Hope! Can I talk to you in my office for a minute?"

That was the headmaster of the school calling me, Alaric Saltzman. He was the only person I actually talked to in this school and trusted.

"Sure!" I said happily knowing that I would be excused from class.

His office was massive and was full of books and magical objects. I spend most of my time in here when I don't have any classes or when I don't feel like being in my dorm.

"We are expecting a new student tomorrow and I was hoping you would be able to show them around the school." he said.

Showing a new student around the school? Does he not know me by now? He knows I don't do well with people and that the best thing to do is avoid them, especially a newbie student.

"I don't think that's a good idea. You know how I am arou-"

Before I could finish my sentence two girls walked in the office with big grins on their faces.

"Hi Daddy!" the girls said in unison.

Those weren't just any two girls. Those were the headmasters twin daughters, Josie and Lizzie. They are both witches and they absolutely hate me.

"Seriously Dad! We never get to have a normal conversation with you without little miss tribrid being in the way!" Lizzie yelled.

"Girls! I was just telling Hope that someone new is joining our school and that she could show them around!" Alaric said.

"But why her out of all people? Every time someone new shows up we show them around! What makes today any different?" Josie asked.

"Girls, you don't understand. I chose Hope to do this for a reason!" Alaric replies.

A reason? What could possibly be so special about this person that I specifically have to show them around?

"Girls I'm sorry but I need you to leave! This is a private conversation!"

"Of course, you choose Hope again!" Lizzie yelled as she walked out the door with Josie following behind.

"Can you please tell me what's going on?" I asked.

"This person coming to the school has powers, but they're not a vampire, witch, or a werewolf." Alaric said.

They're not a vampire, witch, or a werewolf? Then what could they possibly be?

"This person will also be different and may have trouble fitting in which is why I chose you to help them. You're the only one that will understand them." Alaric said. "Please Hope, I need you to do this."

I couldn't turn down Alaric he was my only true friend in this school. The least I could do was show this kid around. What could possibly go wrong?

"Ok I'll do it." I said.

"Great, she'll be here tomorrow morning at 8am." Alaric said.

"She?" I said.

"Yeah, you guys are more alike than you realize." Alaric said. "Now get back to class."

More alike than I realize? Maybe this girl could be the start of something new for me. A new friend. A person that can finally understand me. Maybe this girl will finally make me see things differently.

She can help me change for the better.
