Hope Mickaelson's POV

I woke up the next day and didn't realize that I was sleeping next to Landon. I must have fell asleep next to him last night.

Yesterday, we talked for hours about our lives and I didn't want to go back to my dorm so I decided to stay with him.

Hope probably didn't even notice I was gone. No one noticed me. The longer she stays here the more invisible I become.

I looked next to me to see Landon fast asleep like he wasn't planning on waking up anytime soon. I checked the alarm clock and it was 10am.

Then I remembered that Landon told me he had a test to take today at 11 am.

"Landon, Landon, wake up!" I screamed. "You have a test to take today remember?"

Wow, he was a heavy sleeper. He still lied there fast asleep. I kept calling his name and shaking him. I even slapped him across the face to get him to wake up but he still wouldn't budge.

That's when I realized, he wasn't just sleeping, something was wrong with him. I looked closer at his eyelids and noticed what looked like black powder on them.

I've seen this kind of powder before and it had something to do with a spell. But which one?

I ran back to my dorm and grabbed my spell book from underneath my bed. I rummaged through the pages until I found the spell I was looking for.

Just as I thought, it was a sleeping spell. But who would put one on Landon? And why wasn't I affected by it?

I decided to go to Alaric for help. I ran downstairs and inside to his office.

"Professor Saltzman! I need your help! Landon is"-

I saw myself staring at Professor Saltzman on the ground, also asleep. I looked at his eyelids and he had the same black powder Landon had.

I ran out of the office and looked inside the classrooms to see if anyone was there. There were no students or teachers anywhere.

"Hello! Where is everyone?" I asked.

"Hope!", a voice from behind me said.

I turned around to see Hope running towards me. Why wasn't she affected by the spell? Why wasn't I?

"Hey, when I didn't see anyone I realized something was wrong. Then I realized that everyone was under some kind of sleeping spell. How come you aren't affected by it?" Hope asked.

"I was asking myself the same question." I replied. "What makes us so special?"

"I don't know but whatever caused this we have to find out immediately."she said.

"We also have to figure out how to reverse the spell." I said.

"Great idea! You do that while I figure out what  is causing this mess." she said.

Of course she wanted to figure this out. She defeats one dragon and suddenly she thinks she's all that.

Now that I thought about it, it was a little weird  that Hope wasn't affected by it. Maybe she had something to do with this.

"Hey isn't it weird that everyone is asleep except for us two? I think you did this to everyone." I said.

"Are you accusing me of causing this? What would be my reason for doing this?" she asked.

"Oh c'mon Hope! You're the only one that has that type of power to do such a thing!" I said.

"Look, I did not do this. And besides why would I put everyone asleep except for you?" she asked.

She had a point. If she did do this, I would've been the first person to be put to sleep. There was something more sinister going on.

I took my spell book and looked for any spell that could reverse this. I stopped on a page that was labeled, "The Cure For Sleeping Powder."

It said, "In order to reverse this curse you must destroy the one that caused it in the first place."

Who caused it in the first place? Everyone is asleep except for me and Hope. Suddenly I heard a scream coming outside.

I looked down in the window and saw Hope staring a big creature that almost looked like a human.

Nope not a human. A giant.

I ran outside next to Hope. The giant was stomping everywhere so we had to take cover before it crushed us.

As we hid, I noticed something black in the giants mouth. Black powder.

"I'm guessing the giants the one who caused this?"I said.

"Ya think?" Hope said. "I can see the sleeping powder in its mouth."

"I read that the only way to stop the sleeping spell is to kill the one that caused it." I said.

"Great! That will be easy!" Hope said sarcastically.

We both ran out from our hiding the spot to face the giant. For some reason it was more intimidating than the dragon.

It had a look of anger in his eyes and you can tell he was just full of hate and darkness.

"We should distract the giant. If we split up it will only go after one of us." I said. "That will give us time to figure out what to do."

Hope nodded her head in agreement. We then both split up. I ran to the left and Hope ran to the right.

"Hey! Over here! Come and get me!" I screamed while jumping up and down.

The giant faced me and started going after me. I saw Hope running behind it trying to distract it again.

"I know what to do! Since my powers defeated the dragon last time maybe I can use them again for the giant!"Hope said.

No, I couldn't let her use her magic again. Then she would be the one to wake everyone up and everyone would go to her again. She wasn't going to be the hero today, not this time.

I started leading the giant to Hope by running to her.

"Hope! What are you doing? You're making the  giant run towards me!" She said.

When I got close enough at Hope I pushed her out of the way until I was the one facing the giant.

"Rigescunt Indutae!" I screamed.

The spell I put on the giant made a block of ice cover his entire body. The ice then cracked and exploded the giant along with it.

I ran back into the school and everyone started coming out of their dorms wondering what the heck happened.

"What's going on?" Alaric asked.

"What happened was there was another monster. And I defeated it." I said proudly.

I saw Hope walking towards the school staring at me angrily.

"What the hell was that? You could've gotten me killed!" she screamed.

"But you're not dead. So seriously, Hope, calm down." I said.

"No I will not calm down! I know you did this on purpose. Why?" Hope asked.

I stared at her intensely. "Because I'm the hero, and heroes always win."
