Jack knew that the longer he waited, the more Pitch, would get to Elsa, so he continued his search without Anna.

He looked high and low in all corners of the mountains surrounding Arendelle but there was no sign of her. For once in his life, he was starting to give up, he felt like he'd let her down.

As his search drew to an end, he went to look at the one place that he hadn't been - The North mountain.

In the ice castle, Elsa was still feeling anxious about running away, unaware of what damage she had left behind. Of course, Pitch knew and was ready to use it as persuasion at any time.

"Conceal, don't feel," Elsa whispered to herself out of habit, she was still scared of Pitch, still scared that he was going to mess with her dreams and bring darkness to her heart.

Pitch gloated to himself, she was in just the state he had wanted her to be in all of those years "don't be afraid, Elsa. I'm not going to hurt you." He said softly.

She turned around to face him, trying to look strong, "Afraid? I'm not afraid of you."

"Maybe not, but you are afraid of something," he continued, circling her in the shadows and jumping about from place to place, causing her to become disorientated.

She cleared her throat, trying to find the voice, keeping her arms outstretched defensively "You think so?"

"I know so," he retorted, "It's the one thing I always know, peoples greatest fears. It's funny, you and Jack share the same fear - that no one will ever believe in you and worst of all, you're afraid you won't ever know why, why you?" He kept disappearing and reappearing in multiple corners fo the room, her focus being disrupted.

"Why were you chosen to be like this? Well, fear not, because I am the answer. Can you hear it Elsa? The nightmares calling you? I've had twenty-one years to implant thoughts into your head, can't you hear them?"

Elsa blinked, her mind swarming with unwanted thoughts about the darkness her powers could bring and she frantically squeezed the sides of her head to try and get rid of them, "Stop it!" She yelled, hoping that Pitch would listen for once.

"Why did you end up like this? Alone, unable to reach out to anyone? You want the answers so badly," he said, listening to the thoughts, "You want to change and to be seen again, but you're afraid, of what the town and Jack and your sister will think, you're afraid of disappointing them"

"No..." Elsa wanted him to stop, she couldn't take and she fell backwards, collapsing into the ice throne.

"Let me ease your mind Elsa, they'll never accept you, not really... but I will. You're not like them, you're Elsa, you hurt anybody you touch!" he said with venom in his voice and she coward away as far as she could into the chair. She was sacred.

"But that's the thing my dear, you can't hurt me, you can only help."

"I'm sorry Pitch but I can't help you, I can't help anyone"

He was right, she hurt or destroyed anything she had or touched, including her own sister. She driven everyone away including Jack who she loved more than anything.

"But Elsa, make up for all those people in Arendelle you're hurting right now"

"What? what did you do?" She sat up, suddenly interested in the conversation.

"More to the point, Elsa... what did you do?" he said, leading her out onto the balcony and pointing towards the frozen ford that surrounded Arendelle in the distance.

She gasped at the view in front of her, what had she done?

Pitch took hold of her shoulders, "I could make them believe in you Elsa, I could make them see you for who you are"

His voice and promises sounded enticing to the girl as she stood looking at what she had done. Part of her was upset and confused but there was that tiny voice that had sourced her nightmares that whispered to her

"Look at what you did, isn't that amazing. just look at what you are capable of? Come on Elsa, join me - what goes together better than cold and dark," He whispered and held his hand out for her to take.

As she turned to him, everything else disappeared around her. Pitch was right, this the reason he had been with her for the whole of her life, this is what she was meant to do.

All those years ago when she had said that it had been cold against dark, there had been a part of her knowing that she was wrong. The only thing that was destined to happen was this, right now.

Elsa took a deep breath.

She paused before taking Pitch's hand.

"You're right. They go together perfectly."
