A week after Jack promised himself, he would protect Elsa and he still hadn't been back to see her. He was alone, back at the pond where he was brought up by the man in the moon.

He looked up at the moon which was shining bright and spoke aloud, "is she why I'm here? I've asked you every day this week and you've given me no answer. Please. I know I went with Pitch but... I've changed now, seeing her so hurt and scared made me feel sympathy for her. I felt like we connected. Both of us so alone, not knowing where we are going, day in day out. Am I here to protect her? What I am supposed to do?" A sigh left his lips as he realised it would be more difficult than he thought.

"She'll never trust me now because all I is was bring misery to her, along with Pitch. How can I sway her judgement?" He leaned against his staff desperate for and answer, but nothing came as usual.

Jack scowled, dissatisfied and got the wind to carry him away.

It dropped him in the forest nearby. He ambled through the grass, cursing at the moon and as he walked, his bare feet left ice patches in his wake.

A twig snapped, making him jump. Jack swung himself around. "Who's there?" he asked, defensively holding his staff out into the darkness

Another twig snapped and there was a noise which sounded like a roar. To Jack's surprise, the roar was followed by the sight of a huge reindeer.

"SVEN!" a voice shouted and as the figure emerged from the clearing. The voice appeared to belong to a well-built blonde man, who towered above Jack height. "Sven, there is no one here," he said as he tried to calm Sven down.

Jack frowned, the man hadn't him - but clearly the reindeer had, evidently from the fact that he jumped all over Jack, licking his face.

"Hey, hey stop!" Jack put his hands out to keep the reindeer down, laughing slightly.

The guy looked at the empty space in front of him, furrowing his brows in confusion. He scanned the area until his gaze landed on the grass below in. Kneeling down, his touched it gently with his fingers. "Ice?" He murmured, with a slight curiosity in his voice.

He looked at Sven and decided to call out to the darkness, "hello? I'm Kristoff and whoever you are, I'm not going to hurt you."

Jack walked over and stood face to face with Kristoff, looking directly at him.

Kristoff continued to speak out loud, too nothing, hoping for an answer, "I've seen something like this before, when I was young, a horse and a trail of ice," he said slowly, recollecting his memory, "I'm not afraid."

Jack moved back carefully, trying to remain undetected but his footsteps spread small patterns of ice across the ground and Kristoff gasped, "Jack Frost?"

"He said my name," Jack whispered, with wide eyes.

"Jack Frost," Kristoff repeated and look in front of him, his eyes widening as well, "you're Jack Frost! Please, don't hurt me."

Jack frowned, "why would I-" he stopped, and started again, remembering how people see him. "Never mind. You can see me?"

Kristoff nodded.

"You've heard my tale like everyone else I guess?"

Kristoff nodded again.

Jack sighed and grumbled, "that stupid fairy book." If only he could take back his past actions. Maybe he's be able to protect Elsa better that way.

All those years he had been with Pitch, Pitch had been deluding him with his lies and false promises and enough was enough.

"That fairy book, you can re-write your own story," Kristoff stated, as if reading Jacks mind, "you just make up for what you did wrong, for all the hurt you've caused people with Pitch. You don't have to be like him."

Jack's mind was already elsewhere, ignoring Kristoff's comment and focused on an earlier one. "What ice trail?"

A bewildered look spread across Kristoff's face. "I'm sorry?"

"An ice trail. You said you saw one, when you were younger, tell me what happened."

Kristoff folded his arms, he was a lot bigger and more muscular than Jack, he could easily have beaten him in a fight if it had come down to that. "Why should I tell you anything?"

Jack rolled his eyes. "Don't be difficult Kristoff. Look, there's these two girls and there's a fairy-tale, you may have heard it about the two sisters who-"

"Yeah, I've heard it" Kristoff said, interrupting Jack.

"Part of it's my fault, but I need to change the story. At the beginning her sister is healed by a troll because of ice powers to the head. If I don't stop what happens later, she going to get ice powers in the heart and the snow queen will lose control"

"How do you plan on doing that?" Kristoff challenged.

Jack really didn't know. A lot of it didn't make sense. He knew he was already part of the story, he was responsible for spiralling Elsa out of control, alongside Pitch. He knew Elsa was on the path to be crowned Queen of Arendelle and Jack knew that somehow, he had to change what happens after Elsa's coronation.

The only thing that made sense was making up for all the hurt he had caused. He could protect Elsa from the evil that could influence her and by doing that, he could change his own story and change hers.

"I'm going to be a Guardian."
