We get into the Impala ready to leave. Dean turns the key to start the car but it won't start, the engine splutters a bit before it falls silent, making the brothers look worried. Suddenly there's a figure outside Dean's door, startling all of us at the sudden appearance. When we recover from our scare, we realize it's just Bobby.
"Where do you think you're going?" He asks through the window, showing us the distributor cap in his hand. After a moment, Sam and Dean get out of the Impala and I follow, the three of us walking up to Bobby who doesn't look happy at all. But neither is Dean.
"We got the knife." Dean tells him, making Bobby look a bit angrier.
"And you intend to use it without me?" He asks? Sam comes from the other side of the car and stands next to me, the two of us leaning against the side of the Impala, arms crossed over our chests as we watch the exchange between Dean and Bobby. "Do I look like a ditchable prom-date to you?"
"No, Bobby. Of course not." Sam says from beside me, trying to appease the man.
"This is about me... and Sam. Ok? This isn't your fight." Dean tells Bobby, who walks up to him, furious by the younger man's words.
"The hell it isn't!" He yells, making Dean look a bit taken aback.
"Family don't end with blood, boy." He tells him. "Besides, you need me."
"Bobby." Dean says, trying to convince the older man to stay here.
"You're playing wounded. Tell me, how many hallucinations have you had so far?" He asks. Sam and I look at each other before looking back at Dean in confusion. He turns and looks at us, tilting his head slightly before turning back to Bobby.
"How'd you know?" He asks.
"Because that's what happens when you've got hellhounds on your butt. And because I'm smart." He states. Dean looks at the ground and I watch him, curious as to what he's thinking. Bobby hands Dean the distributor cap. "I'll follow." Bobby walks away from us and over to his own car. After a moment, Dean walks to the hood of the Impala to put back the stolen part. "Don't be stopping to pee every ten minutes either." I chuckle slightly at the old man's words before opening the back door and sliding in behind the driver's seat. After the part is restored, the brother's climb into the car and we start the drive to Indiana. The drive is mostly silent, each of us lost in our thoughts. After a while, I lay down across the backseat, the purr of the Impala's engine lulling me to sleep.
I wake up to the sound of the guys talking. I keep my eyes closed and pretend to stay asleep so I don't interrupt the conversation.
"No. No, no, no, no." I hear Dean say, confusing me on what he was talking about.
"No what?" Sam asks him, a slightly defensive tone in his voice.
"No, you're not gonna bust out the misty good-bye speech, okay? And if this is my last day on earth, I do not want it to be socially awkward." The older brother says. There's a pause before anything else is said. "You know what I do want?""What?" Sam asks. Nothing is said for a moment.
"Is she still asleep?" I hear Dean ask. There's a shuffling sound from the passenger side, making me believe that Sam has turned around to see if I was awake. When he confirms, Dean continues. "If this doesn't turn out the way we want, I need to know she'll be okay. Promise me she'll be okay."
"Dean-" Whatever Sam was about to say gets cut off.
"Sam." He says, almost sounding desperate. "Promise me she'll be okay. Promise me you'll take care of her."
"I promise." Sam says at last. There's a long pause before Dean responds.
"Good. You know what else I want?" He asks, turning on some music. Immediately, Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive" fills the car. I wait a few moments before I decide to "wake up". I sit up and yawn, stretching a bit.
"Are we there yet?" I ask.
"Almost." Dean tells me. I nod and look out the window, smiling as the brothers begin to sing along to the song, very off key.
