Trigger - 17

Everything was getting better now. Julia made it to the hospital and was stable. Billy was icing his face as he waited alongside Julia's hospital bed. They had both made it out of the cave alive which they never thought would happen.

"I can't thank you enough, William." Julia said with a raspy voice. Hearing her speak, Billy jolted up and stood right next to her holding her hand.

"You don't need call me William." He smiled. "I'm just glad you're okay."

"Yes, I do, you have definitely earned that name, I don't want you to ever forget that." Julia said back to him with soft eyes.

"How are you feeling?" he looked down at her leg.

"Lucky." She squeezed his hand. "Lucky that I have you."

Billy bent over and kissed her on her forehead. "I'm going to get some water; would you like anything?" Julia shook her head, and he left the room to get a drink.

"You were quick," Julia started to say and then she realized that it wasn't Billy who walked in. It was Cole. It was dead silent and very uncomfortable as he got closer.

"I know I'm probably the last person that you want to see." He started, and Julia just stared at him because he was right. "but I wanted to swing by and say that I am sorry." He paused and looked at the ground. He took in a deep breath. "I'm sorry that I didn't kill you in the cave." He looked up. Julia shook her head as if she heard incorrectly, but she didn't. She reached for the emergency button, but Cole grabbed her hand before she got the chance. "I won't be as weak this time." He pulled his gun out with a silencer at the end of it. Just like that, there was a fresh bullet straight through Julia's neck. As she choked on her blood before dying, Billy walked back in.

Billy dropped his drink and ran over to Julia and noticed the gun shot wound and then pummeled Cole to the ground. He punched him left and right despite being worn out from his injuries. Cole dodge one of the punches and flipped Billy off of him. He pulled his gun back out and pointed it at Billy. "You are a liar; you never had my back." Cole said and immediately followed it with pulling the trigger and shooting another bullet, this time killing Billy.

Soon after, security came into the room and took Cole away. Satisfied with himself, Cole was smiling and didn't resist the guards at all. Walking away to seeing the woman who murdered his parents, dead, by his hand. He was satisfied with his work.

Not too long after, Cole was admitted to a mental health institution where he kept a photo of Julia and William as a reminder of his successful revenge.
