Excerpts from the personal journal of Gadi Reyes, leader of the Survivor tribe, @ 2052, two years after the establishment of the Survivor tribe.

Sending spacecraft into Earth's orbit was a routine occurrence in the mid-21st century. At this time in human space exploration, scientists were experimenting with ways to bring Earth's orbit into a slightly less elliptical path around the sun. This would accomplish two things: First, it would extend the seasons at the Earth's poles by twenty percent thus allowing the polar ice caps to refreeze. Second, Earth's magnetic polarity would diminish resulting in less severe temperature gradients in the atmosphere. The more temperate climates would forecast greater agricultural potential for the equatorial regions and less hurricanes and tropical storms for the Americas.

Space shots were under the purview of TLI Enterprises. TLI or Test Launch Investments, held a similar role to a producer of a blockbuster movie production. TLI brought together the various players, in this case, The Russian Conglomerate, The Asian Collective Conglomerate and The American Confederation. TLI then brokered a deal in which these three economic powerhouses shared their information and technology.

TLI stood to gain from greater global economic prosperity since it had cornered the market on magnetically-powered automobiles and space mobiles. Their supply of magnetically-charged stones was located in the region of Asia formerly known as Mongolia.

It was just a matter of time before TLI controlled all of the world's rare earth metals and stones.
