Chapter 3: Forani's Desire
Forani pictured his life as a celebrity. In his best British accent, he stood upright, pretended that he sported a glass of champagne in his right hand and a parasol in his other, then started speaking with a British accent as if he were Robin Leach from the Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.
"Welcome to the A-listers, the celebrity of celebrities! And who do we have as our number one A-lister? Why it's Professor Forani Ternate, our planetary saviour, of course! The most dazzling celebrity that this Earth has ever known. Famous for inventing a magnetic explosive that has the power to interrupt and then capsize the earth's magnetic poles."
Neodynium had been the magnet material of choice before Forani's group located a rare earth element located in the eastern horn of Africa, in Eritrea, near to the Red Sea. This new element called Nacerium showed even stronger magnetic properties such that Forani was able to contain his thermonuclear explosions at even the one thousand gigaton level.
"People will want to kiss my hand and sing their praise to me wherever I may go," Forani gushed.
Just then Forani recalled the lullabye that his Father used to sing to him as a young boy.
"Sing me another song," he used to plead with his melodious parent.
"Now Forani, my son, it is time for you to dream of 'Once upon' while you repair your neurons. Sleep my son, sleep. You possess what others can only dream of, your mind runs faster than a decabyte processor. Let your thoughts drift into space while you abandon your worries, hurl them away, so far away. See what you are capable of, the small and the larger goals, your ambition to excel only surpassed by the sun's power to create life or death on our earth."
"Father, I don't want to fall asleep. I want to stay awake to see the sun rise in the early morning."
"Son, there will be a time when you will move the earth so that the sun will always be visible for you and the rest of us. You will find a way to do this. I have faith in your abilities and in the power of the sun."
"Father, is the sun listening to what you and I are talking about now? Does the sun have plans for us?"
"Son, my precious, precious one, you will know all there is to know about the all-powerful sun when it is your time. For now, sleep well and know that I have the utmost faith in you and your ability to harness the sun's power for the betterment of all humanity. Your faith in yourself and my love for you will guide you to find a way to move the earth and in so doing, find a way to show humanity the true nature of the universal forces that surround us."
Forani's Father then looked at his innocent son lying in his bed. With a twinkle in his eyes, he added,
"Remember that your family name is written in your heart. Good night, my son."
The next morning, Forani was sent to the all-boys school. When he asked why he was being sent away, the only answer he received was this:
"There are forces in this Universe that only a God can understand."
-----------------------------
Forgiveness for his parents' sending him away was buried under a stack of academic achievement awards, prestigious research grants, and praise from multinational corporations in the form of space probe contracts. Forani walked away from his beaten-up old recliner and stretched his arms as high as he could reach.
"It's time to show the world what I'm capable of. It's time to place the sun in the sky permanently. No more nights. Only daylight in the sky above."
As he exited the Aviation office, Forani received the usual greetings from working colleagues who, to Forani, seemed like they were always trying to catch up to him.
"Hello Professor Forani. How are your electrons flying today?"
He would just nod and smile and continue on his way. He stepped outside, causing his lenses to darken as they adjusted to the increased ambient light and UVA, UVB and Gamma rays that were increasing daily, especially in the temperate zones of the Earth. His wool suit and dark shoes also adjusted to the radiation: As their material's exposure to the different radiations increased, a chemical reaction occurred that bounced the harmful rays into the ground.
"I know that you are only sending your love to us, God. And I am redirecting your love to the Earth."
