THE BEGINNING OF LEGEND
Gadi, his wife, and their two children enjoyed living in Marseilles, France. On that Thursday in May of 2050, Gadi had taken time away from his airplane taxi business to drive Marie and the kids to the Mediterranean Sea where they would walk along the water, eat a light lunch, then charter a small catamaran to visit a private alcove about a thirty-minute ride west of the port. Unfortunately, the elder Isabelle started to feel a bit seasick as they left port in their chartered boat.
"Oh Issie, once we cross over these waves coming from the other boats, then you will feel fine."
"I hope so Mama. If not, then I may throw up."
Gadi considered himself a handyman; he could fix almost anything. Growing up in the Andorran mountain range, he was not 'spoiled' like the kids today, with their videophones, magnetic hovercrafts, and nighttime school lessons that would teach them school subjects even as they slept.
He grew up an only child in the Andorran Pyrenees but he was savvy enough to know when a sea storm was brewing. Isabelle was his early warning system.
"Better than any satellite system technology or SST," he liked to say.
In fact, Gadi possessed a healthy skepticism of modern-day technology.
"If it were up to me, we would have to row this boat out to sea, find a quiet spot to dive and swim, then catch some lobster or catfish with spears and knives."
Marie, his wife did not want to argue with her 'handyman' husband so she tended to Isabelle.
Just then, his younger daughter Genevieve shouted,
"Look Mama, Dada! I see a bright light in the sky. Did the sun explode? Or the moon?"
Gadi looked up and realized that he had better return to shore as quickly as possible.
"Hold on my sweet ones, Dada has to drive the boat a lot faster now. We need to get to safety. The clouds look as if a big storm is brewing."
