^^ Remarat the Broken ^^
The Bounty Office was a rather imposing building made of white marble, -unlike the rest of the city,- that stretched back about 300ft from the main thoroughfare, and included a back portion that was open to the elements much like the pasture on the other side of the road, but this one was full of archery ranges and sand pits for training, as I learned during my tour of the facilities.
"-Bounty Hunting makes up 40% of our yearly Tax Revenue here in the Capital, you see, and while we appreciate your confidence in your own skill, we prefer you take at least some training from our seasoned Hunters, or prove your Mettle against them and gain their approval, before we allow you to take on the more serious Contracts! Your failure means a loss to us, after all, and generally Failure means Death, which we'd all like to avoid to the best of our abilities, so let's start with a simple oral exam to test your mental capabilities, yes?" The young man in front of me smiled charmingly, somehow managing to look innocent in the fancy blue waistcoat and clean white cravat that he wore with apparent adoration.
"If you'd like." I shrugged, settling into the leather-backed couch he'd lead me to after showing me around the boring office building and then the exercise yards of the compound. No bar, though, sadly enough. It seems some Tropes were impossible, after all.
"Splendid! Firstly, Herbalism! Which Plant has a Pink flower with a red Stamen that excretes a silvery solution when touched?" He asked excitedly.
"Honeysuckle, or a Woman." I smirked, amused by his immediate blush.
"W-well!!! Correct, I suppose!!! Next, Biology: what portions of a Dragon's Body are weakest against arrows?" He recovered quickly and asked the next question.
"Hmm... I imagine it's Eyes and Stomach?"
Eyes, Stomach, and Mouth.
"-And it's mouth, as well." I added smoothly, nodding seriously to give myself some credence.
"Good, and what about blades?" He made a note on a scroll, asking the question casually.
"Hand-Held Blades are almost certainly useless against an Adult Dragon's Scales unless you plan on riding it like a bucking horse, which is inadvisable, given their necks and tails are flexible enough to reach you anywhere on their backs, and they are not above simply rolling over and crushing you with 20 tons of Dragon. Of course, if you did manage to screw yourself totally and end up that close, then the Eyes and Stomach are still the best place to stab." I waved a hand dismissively at the idiotic concept.
He glanced up, and nodded slowly. "You're quite correct. You seem to have a close understanding of Dragons, but what about, say, the Turmiz?"
Chimera; specifically a Single-Headed Chimera, with a Goat's head, Snake head for a tail, a Lion's body, and bat wings. The Snake Head holds the real Brain, but if you cut it off, it'll regrow the whole body like a star-fish.
"An irritating beast with a variety of ways to kill you, from the Snake Venom, Lion's Claws, and Goat Horns, and that's not even counting it's Regeneration ability, if you cut off the Snake Head, which holds the actual Brain of the Beast. Makes a disgusting Bleating sound, very disturbing." I shivered daintily and then smoothed my coat out while he wrote down my answer.
"Very good... not many people know about the Regeneration ability... how about a Dire Rat?"
Eventually he exhausted his list of creatures to ask me about, and we moved back to plants, which I relied on my Guide to answer with precision, again exhausting his knowledge of the subject.
