Newt had left me, I was still trying to recover from the noise that Ava had put in my ears, but I knew that I couldn't stay here unprotected. So I decided to take up on myself to move out of Frypans kitchen as I could see other grievers tearing down buildings easily.

I sprinted for where the beds and hammocks were when a griever spotted me. Looking at it, I decided not to stop. Running as fast as I could I made it to the beds, scrambling around I was desperate to find something that I could at least put up some form of defence with.

I came up blank.

The griever couldn't see me, but across the glade I could see a group of boys running, the group included Thomas, Teresa and Alby. They were being backed into by a griever when I watched as another one obliterated Frypans Kitchen.

If I was in there I'd be dead.

I looked to my left and saw the griever sniffing around trying to find where I was, I didn't move, instead I stayed firmly behind the post.

I watched as the group got terrorised by a griever and then I saw Minho, Newt, Jeff and Clint, Minho and Newt threw spears which landed on the Griever, giving everyone enough chance to get away. Newt began making his way back towards where he had left me only to see the rubble of the building on the ground and some parts on fire.

"Mallory!" Newt screamed.

I wanted to tell him I was here but I couldn't risk being attacked by this griever.

The griever itself was still trying to find me and I couldn't see its face so I bolted. Locking eyes with Newt I lead the monsters away, as they would be more interested in me than the rest of the boys.

"Hey! Over here!" I yelled and 2 of them snapped up at the sound of me shouting and started running over.

"No! Mallory no!" Newt screamed at me again but was held back by Thomas and Minho.

Minho seemed to understand what I was doing and threw a spear in my direction, as I watched it fly through the air I caught it and made a B line straight to the deadheads. I could still hear Newt protesting but they finally got him inside the Homestead where I begged that they had barricaded to give them more of a chance.

My attention went back to the two grievers on my ass and I needed to find a way to escape the situation. But somehow I figured that Ava wouldn't allow that, using the spear I had I launched it at one of them which caused it to go flying backwards into the other one, buying me some time.

Using the precious seconds I'd given myself, I ran as quickly as I could until I found a tree that I could quickly and easily climb. Once I reached higher ground was when I heard the mechanical legs of the monsters seeking me out. It was then I decided that I needed to go higher. Submerging through the treeline I saw that one of the grievers was around the Homestead where I knew the majority of people were hiding, there was nothing I could do, if i was caught now that would be it for me. I would be toast.

Looking beneath me, there was a griever and it was looking around as if it knew I was close, my body shook and I knew that I was caught.

Then something struck me. Elijah's voice ran through my mind.

'Look for the attack that the enemy wouldn't expect, and thats how you'll win.'

So that is exactly what I did.

I jumped down on top of the griever, landing in its sticky slimy top and causing it to go in on itself, once the other one saw me, it began attacking the same griever as well. All I had to do was jump ship and avoid being injected by whatever was in those needles. Their arms or legs were flailing about trying to get me but I was too quick and once I saw the opportunity to move to the other griever I took it. Landing again, covered in its slime the one that had been injured ran back into the maze and the one I was on top of began to do the same, stabbing itself trying to attack me. Eventually it threw me off, I was out in the open by this point and I landed with a hard thud on the ground, taking the wind out of me.

"Oh fuck." I said, seeing the griever realise that I was no longer on its back and on the floor, I reached out to my left and grabbed hold of a half broken spear and held it up to keep the weight and the jaws of the griever away from me. It was a lot stronger than I was and I could feel my arms beginning to cave from the pressure. All I could see was its needle, ready to stab me and I shut my eyes waiting for the impact of it.

All the pressure was gone suddenly. I looked to my side and saw that everyone in the Homestead had made it out and they were okay, they all threw their weapons at the griever hovering over me and ran screaming at it, ready for a fight. I saw my chance to roll out of harms way and began dragging my beaten body away from the danger and closer towards the safety of the group.

Eventually I got to Newt and he pulled me up, allowing me to support my weight on him as the others scared off the last griever.

"What on earth were you thinking" Newt asked me, fury laced in his words.

"I had to do something. You guys were getting murdered." I replied breathless and grateful to be able to sit down without the imminent threat of death.

"You should've stayed where I left you." He told me, inspecting my face for the wounds that were there.

"I would've died if I had stayed there, not even 2 minutes after I left it, a griever trampled the entire thing."I told him, leaning into his chest.

My eyes locked on Gally storming over to Thomas. I spoke before they could even begin arguing.

"Gally, its not Thomas' fault. Its mine."

At this everyone stopped and looked at me.

"What?" Newt said, helping me up, looking just as confused as everyone else.

"The creators, they-"

Before I could finish the sound in my ears was back, this was a warning from Ava, telling me I was on thin ice. And probably that if I knew what was good for me, I would shut up.

I didn't scream I just knelt on the floor with my head between my arms trying to wait out the sound in hopes that she would let me have another chance. Waves of sound started coming back to me but it wasn't enough to piece together an entire sentence.

"Thomas!"

"She.....stung."

"One"

"Syringe."

"How..........we...............save"

Then, nothing.

A peaceful darkness that was a relief.
