The warriors sat around enjoying the night with drinks and decorative treats throughout the hours. I sat next to Lady Sif, sipping my wine with pleasure. "You're awful quiet, Lady Beyla. What's running around in there, huh?" Fandral asks plopping down on my left. "Can't a woman enjoy some quality silent time with a drink?" He leans in on his elbow smirking. "Not with those eyes." He taps my nose chuckling.
I sigh, "okay, you got me." I turn up my glass downing my drink. "My! It must be something big." Sif laughs.
I shake my head, stand, and grabbing the bottle from the table. "Do you ever feel a pull from elsewhere? Other than your written lore?"
By this time I've gained the attention of everyone in the hall. Loki stands taking a seat at the table across from me.
I sip from the bottle elaborating. "I'm the Goddess of Bees right? I'm supposed to help Midgard's growth. Can someone tell me why I have yet to see it? I just feel I have more purpose than...this!" I hold open my hand allowing bees to scatter to the nearest plants. I roll my eyes walking around the table and settle in the red silk chair.
Volstagg disagrees, shaking his head. "I've seen you in a heated battle, Lady Beyla. Those bees are used for their stingers too."
"Yes! Remember when you forced hundreds of them upon that Raith? You saved us that day. You're much more than you put on, Beyla." Thor praises patting the arm of the chair and down his mead.
"More like what? Your wife?" I joke drinking again as Thor follows at the frightening thought. Sif and Volstagg begin to hum the ceremonial wedding son as they prance around.
Thor cackles at his friends while Loki watches emotionless. "Oh, enough! That day hasn't come yet." "And it might never come to pass." Thor looks at me surprised. "You wouldn't have me, Beyla?" He smirks lowering down to my size.
I move away from him with a smile. "You're not my sort, Thor."
The team all cackle shouting rejection remarks at the god of thunder. "Thank you for your duration ladies and gentlemen! That is my show! Farewell!" I giggle walking away allowing the laughter to fade in the golden halls.
I stumble to my room inch by inch. I take a moment to prop on the wall and attempt to remove my heels, but two hands lightly clasp on my waist keeping me upright. "Quite the act, love. Is there a midnight showing?" Loki jokes smiling at me.
"Oh yeah! I can show you backstage!" I giggle, turning around in his arms. "You wouldn't help a goddess to her chambers would you, Silver Tongue?" He picks me up as if a fair maiden was being saved and whisks me away to my chambers.
"Can I tell you something, Loki?" I lean against him, twirling my fingers in his hair. "That you are incredibly intoxicated?"
"Yes, but that is not what I wanted to say."
Loki lowers me to the floor as he opens my door. He follows in the large doorway taking a seat at the fireplace. "You keep it entirely too warm in here, Beyla." I roll my sheets down rolling in the silk. "Come on. I have to tell you something?"
Loki looks over raising his eyebrows. He stands moving to sit by my side. "What?"
"Closer." He inches in smiling. "Yes?" "Closer." Loki gets on his elbows stifling his laughter. "I don't want to marry Thor." Loki looks at me wide-eyed. "If he is to be King it would be foolish of you to decline his proposal, Beyla." I groan, putting a pillow over my face. "You don't listen!" Loki removes the pillow looking down at me. "Well, I am now. Explain, darling."
I stare into his light eyes feeling my body's warmth climb. I sigh feeling all the confidence in my head vanished.
Oh, come on. Just do it. It's been years.
"I plan to reject the proposal. I can't marry someone who I don't love. Thor is a great friend and I've never once seen him otherwise. Your mother was always the one pushing for me to find the happiness she has. I've had plenty of men try to pursue me, but they were never the right one."
"S-So you've found someone you... love?"
I stare into his eyes nodding. "I've known for the longest time. I assume he has never been aware of it." Loki looks away from my eyes, "then you must show him. It would be a shame to live without knowing Beyla has a heart for you." I sit up next to him, picking the specks of dust off his green attire. "You think I should tell him? It could spoil everything I've spent years with him." "Actions speak louder. You must show him." Loki nods looking off to the door.
I bite my lip, nervously. Do it now. You can refuse the backlash as a drunken mistake if this doesn't go right.
"Okay, Loki. Action it is."
He nods, shaking his leg. "Well, I'm sure Fandral will be pleased."
I turn his face towards me and plant his lips against my own. He stills in shock.
I back up, looking into his eyes. "Loki?" He looks down at me breaking his trance. He grabs my cheek smiling and leaning down to kiss me once more.
