The Bifröst tore open the sky with a thunderous roar, and Beyla's breath caught as its light flung her across the cosmos. She clutched her cloak tighter, the hum of cosmic power still trembling through her bones when her boots struck frozen stone.

Jotunheim.

The land stretched out in endless shadows of ice and ruin. Towering spires of frost pierced a sky choked with mist, and every breath seared her throat with cold. The silence pressed heavy, broken only by the crunch of their footsteps.

Thor strode ahead, his hammer spinning lazily in his hand, golden hair bright even against the pale wasteland. His eagerness curdled into arrogance, the grin tugging at his lips as if battle were but sport. Loki walked just behind him, movements precise and quiet, every glance calculated. The Warriors Three flanked Beyla and Sif, their voices hushed as the group pressed forward.

But the stillness of Jotunheim was not peace. It was the pause before the storm.

A sound split the silence - guttural, low, like stone grinding against stone. Then shapes moved in the fog. Giants.

They emerged, hulking forms with skin like cracked ice and eyes glowing a ghostly blue. Weapons forged from jagged frost scraped against the ground as they advanced. Beyla's heart thudded, her hands flexing. With a whisper, she summoned her bees - golden motes of light that shimmered into the air, their hum vibrating against the cold. They swirled protectively around her, their warmth defiant against the creeping chill.

The giants sneered.

Then all at once, the battle exploded.

Steel met ice with a clang that rang across the chasm. Thor surged forward, Mjolnir a storm in his hand, every blow cracking bone and shattering frost. He laughed - laughed - as though their enemy were nothing more than a tavern brawl. His hammer spun in arcs of lightning that split the gloom, sparks hissing on the frozen ground.

Sif's blade flashed beside Beyla, sharp and sure, each strike precise. The Warriors Three bellowed as they pressed into the fray.

Beyla exhaled and released her swarm. Golden bees tore through the air, their stingers glowing as they struck at giant after giant, distracting, swarming, disorienting. Each one was a shard of her will, darting faster than frost eyes could follow. She wove between them, small and fast, cloak snapping as she slid beneath a giant's swing and slashed upward with her dagger.

A roar echoed - and ice shattered. A club slammed into the ground, sending Beyla stumbling. Frost snaked along the stone toward her feet, eager to freeze her in place. Panic shot through her chest - until a flicker of green caught her eye.

Loki.

His hand swept in a sharp arc, seiðr flaring emerald. The ice faltered, fracturing into harmless shards before it could catch her. His eyes flicked toward her - sharp, steady, a silent command to move. She obeyed, heart pounding.

For a moment, she let herself breathe. But Thor's booming voice tore the air apart.

"MORE! Show me more of your warriors!" he roared, slamming Mjolnir into the ground. Lightning cracked, throwing giants backward like rag dolls. His grin widened, blood and frost splattering his armor.

Beyla froze. This was not defense. This was hunger. Thor was drunk on the fight, deaf to reason, blind to risk.

"Thor!" Loki's voice snapped across the chaos, cold and cutting. "Enough! We came for answers, not war."

But Thor did not hear. Or would not. He hurled himself at the largest giant, reckless, laughing still.

Beyla's chest tightened. This is the man I am bound to? she thought bitterly. She remembered the gentle smiles, the promises of safety, of joy. Where were they now? In his place stood a beast chasing glory, no thought for those beside him.

A sharp cry ripped her focus back - Fandral had been struck, blood streaking his armor. Beyla rushed to his side, bees swarming to push back the advancing frost giant. She pressed a glowing hand against his wound, channeling her magic to knit torn flesh.

The ground shook beneath them. More giants came. Too many.

Even Loki's eyes widened as he realized - they were surrounded.

The circle closed in, weapons raised. For the first time, Beyla felt the icy bite of despair. They would not leave this place alive.

Then the air split with a voice that silenced everything.

"ENOUGH!"

The word boomed like thunder, rolling across the battlefield. Every giant faltered. Even Thor froze mid-swing, his laughter dying in his throat.

From the blinding light, Odin stepped forth. Cloaked in gold and power, Gungnir in his hand, the All-Father's presence suffocated the air itself. His one eye blazed with fury.

Beyla fell to her knees instinctively, the swarm of her bees scattering into sparks at his presence. The others bowed, save Thor, who turned, defiant, chest heaving with battle lust.

"You would endanger us all!" Odin's voice thundered, every syllable heavy with judgment. "Your pride has brought Asgard to the brink of war!"

Thor's jaw clenched. "I only sought to-"

"Silence!"

The command struck harder than any blow. Odin's glare cut through him, through all of them. Beyla shivered.

"You are unworthy of this power, unworthy of this realm, unworthy of-" His gaze flicked to Beyla, lingering on her trembling form. "-the one promised to you."

Her blood went cold.

Thor's eyes snapped to her, shock breaking through his rage. "Father, no-"

But Odin raised Gungnir, his decision carved into stone. "You are cast out, stripped of power, banished!"

Lightning erupted. Mjolnir tore from Thor's hand, the sound of metal screaming as it was ripped away. Powerless, Thor stumbled, his roar of protest echoing as the Bifröst opened once more and swallowed him whole.

And then he was gone.

The silence that followed was unbearable. Beyla's hands shook as she pressed them to the frozen stone, her chest tight with panic. Betrothed no longer. Future erased in a single breath.

Tears blurred her vision.

A hand touched her arm. Firm, steady.

Loki.

He knelt beside her, his face unreadable to all but her. Only she could see the flicker of satisfaction in his gaze - but also something softer. His fingers lingered just long enough to steady her before pulling away.

"Come," he murmured, voice pitched low, velvet threaded with command. "You will not fall here."

Beyla lifted her head, eyes burning. For the first time, she did not know whether her trembling came from the weight of her grief... or from the way Loki's presence steadied her in a world that had just shattered.
