The damp dirt on the ground sinks into my muddy Converse and I huff out a breath of distress, and because of the cold weather, my breath is actually visible; portraying out in front of me like a cold, misty cloud of air. With a shiver, I spin around in a circle in search of civilization. The sprinkles of rain fall from the sky and patter against the trees all around me, dropping upon the leaves and onto the dirt of the ground.
"Hello?" I shout, cupping my hands over my mouth to make my voice louder.
Pulling my jacket closer to my body, I continue walking through the enchanting forest. My tired eyes squint with wet rain dropelts stuck to my eyelashes as I notice a cabin not far from where I stand. Shock fills within me at the fact that someone else is here; actually living in the forest.
Curiosity and caution pricks at my mind as I find myself walking closer to the cabin, only a football field away. It takes merely a minute for me to get closer to the torn down cabin and when I do, I notice two things. Firstly; it appears to be the creepiest thing I have ever seen. Secondly; it seems as though nobody is home.
With a not-so-steady heart rate, I slowly walk up the two crooked steps and raise my trembling hand to the wooden door that has old beige paint peeling off of it. I knock once, and the door creeks open at the slightest, revealing darkness from behind the door.
My voice comes out wavered when I realize what I've gotten myself into.
"Hello?"
