Taehyung was worried. He hadn't had enough time to take the weekend of Yoongi's trip off from his internship at the clinic and the weather for Saturday was not promising. Tae was holding Jeongguk close to his chest, fingers trailing through the soft tufts of hair to gently pull and separate them in a circular pattern. Jeongguk mumbled contentedly and Tae cooed at the soft noise. He knew it was late and that Yoongi was with Hoseok, but he was still trying to fight the urge to call Yoongi and beg for help.

His internship was very important. Even though Taehyung was only at the front desk and worked the computer system, it was rare for a high school student to be in his position. He made a promise to take it seriously. On the weekends when Tae worked, Yoongi would stay with Jeongguk and it was a treasured time for each of them. Jeongguk would get spoiled by Tae on Friday night and then by Yoongi for the rest of the weekend. And for the next five days of school, Tae would make up for working by not leaving Jeongguk's side.

"You can go to work tomorrow hyungie, 's okay." Gguk smiled.

"I don't like leaving you alone."

"I can call you anytime I need to and you'll come home, I can handle myself for one weekend. The clinic is really important."

Taehyung took Gguk's chin in his hand and pecked his lips gently. "You are amazing. If you need anything, and I'm serious, anything, call me. I'll come running."

Tae left early in the morning, discomforted by the greying skies and gloomy forecast. He pressed a kiss to Jeongguk's forehead and hurried to work.

As the thunder rumbled and shook Jeongguk to the core, he tried to breathe.

"Yoongi's not home th-this weekend. T-tae's at w-work." He told himself. "Stay big."

His voice cracked over those words repeatedly, tears slipping down his cheeks as lightning pressed its white fury against his closed eyelids. He flinched, clutching his phone close to his chest. "Stay.Big."

Beneath his covers he trembled, begging himself to be good for Taehyung and Yooni. He was trying so hard it made his head hurt.

And then his sobs could be heard throughout their little apartment. He slipped. "Gg-Ggukkie scawed." he sobbed, pressing his face into his Totoro plushie. "Koo w-wan's D-daddy n' -n Yoonie."

He fumbled around with the phone in his hands, desperate for a steady, familiar voice, desperate for a distraction. Anyone or anything to save him from the storm. Before it got him too.

The door to the apartment clicked open before he managed to unlock the phone and Ggukkie froze, unsure. "D-daddy?"

The thud of rushed footsteps set his heart racing and he cried harder.

"Kookie!" Taehyung burst into the room, catching himself on the door to breathe. At the first roll of thunder he told his boss he had an emergency and left. He was soaked from head to toe and his legs burned from running, but he was home.

The little peeled the covers back carefully, eyes watery and cheeks splotchy with tears. Lightning flashed nearby and thunder rolled right after. Little Kookie let out a scream.

"Daddy!" he sobbed.

"Baby, Kookie, Baby I'm right here. I'm right here." Tae whispered, disregarding his drenched clothes to climb beneath the covers as the white front of fear in Kookie faded at his words. It wasn't completely gone, but it was settled considerably.

Jeongguk had been terrified of storms since the one that claimed his parents when he was 10. He'd lived with Taehyung ever since, discovering his little space and being accepted by Tae's parents who worked with a therapist. Through that he learned to accept himself and his slips, gaining a semblance of control and a dynamic with Taehyung that he wouldn't exchange for anything.

Kookie clung to him with all his might, still trembling. "D-daddy's all wet." he sniffled.

"I'm okay," Tae brushed his hair softly.

"B-but Kookie don' want Daddy to be si-ick." Jeongguk hiccuped and squeaked as another drum of thunder shook overhead. He buried his head in Tae's chest.

Tae stroked his hair and rubbed his back, whispering softly. "Shh, Koo baby, Daddy's right here."

A nod.

"Daddy does need to put on some dry clothes, okay Koo?"

Jeongguk nodded solemnly, but didn't loosen his hold on Taehyung. Tae smiled fondly.

"Up we go."

He lifted Gguk into his arms and carried him into the living room. He pulled the heavy drapes closed and turned on the lamp, settling Kookie on the couch.

"Daddy will be right back." He promised.

Spurred on by Kookie's unsteady breaths, he hurriedly changed, toweling his hair to lessen the dripping. Gguk was still in his pajamas from the night before, so Tae followed suit, grabbing a fleecy blanket and Kookie's stuffie. He plucked Spirited Away out of the movie cabinet in Gguk's playroom and dug out Jeongguk's favorite cookies from the kitchen. A loud clap of thunder set him running to Ggukkie's side.

"Daddy!" Kookie cried, reaching out.

Tae put his things down on the table and crouched in front of Jeongguk, petting the hair out of his face and brushing away his tears. He pressed the stuffie into Gguk's arms.

"You're being so brave Kookie."

"R-really?"

Tae grinned, tilting his head and winking. "Would Daddy lie to you?"

Jeongguk shook his head from side to side very seriously.

"Exactly."

Tae pushed the disk into the player and pulled Kookie into his arms, draping the blanket around them. He turned the sound way up to drown out the storm.

Jeongguk giggled, clapping his hands over his ears. "Daddy! Turn it down!"

Grinning, Tae refused, kissing the slope of Kookie's nose softly.

"C-can Kookie have a cookie?" he asks unsurely.

"What do you say?"

"Pwease Dada?" Kookie remembered after some thought.

Tae nodded, handing him a cookie. "Where's mine baby?"

Giggling, Kookie leaned forward with part of the cookie between his perfect bunny teeth. Tae took a bite and kissed Gguk's forehead softly. "Thank you Kookie."

Still giggling, Kookie snuggled into Taehyung's side, settling to watch Spirited Away and wait out the storm.
